After 9/11/2001 the GOP had two talking points they loved to repeat over and over.
One was that Bill Clinton had had eight opportunities to kill bin Ladn. This ignored that all of those opportunities would have been illegal.
The other was that Bush Jr. only had nine months in office before the attack and hadn’t had time to get up to speed. That ignored the fact that Clinton had warned Bush that bin Ladn was a threat; the CIA had told Bush bin Ladn was a threat; the FBI had him on the Most Wanted list; and that Bush had been give a report titled ‘bin Ladn is planning an attack on America.’

and then it was “nobody could have seen this coming”.
except everyone who could. i think they even had warnings about the actual plan.
