The Right hated Rock and Roll back in the 1950s because you had white kids listening to dangerous ‘race music.’

Back in the day, they treated lung problems by sucking the air out of one lung. It gave the lung a ‘breather.’
Read a story about a Naval officer who was having his lung problems treated back in the early 1930s.
The treatment was to have a doctor stick a needle in their chest and draw out all the air from the affected lung. That gave the lung a chance to heal.
While the lung was reinflating, the officer would lie in bed and smoke a cigarette to relieve the stress.

I recently learned of a British version of Dirk, circa 2010. I’d seen the Elijah Wood version, and this is a nice addition.
It’s true that Doyle never mentioned it, but it’s logical that Holmes would want a place he could duck into for a quick meal; or a nap; or to put on a new disguise. Watson does say that Holmes had bolt holes around London, so it would have been foolish for him not to have a membership.
I remember reading about his membership in a non canon work.
If you’re a fan look up ‘The 7% Solution.’ It’s available as a novel and a movie; Holmes meets the only doctor capable of curing his cocaine addiction, Sigmund Freud.
Holmes was a mess.
He was unpopular at school; hung out with the lower classes; used cocaine; once shot the letters ‘V R’ into his living room wall; was a member of a club where no member was supposed to speak to another; only survived as long as he did because his brother was a major government official.
Agreed. Airplane 2 had William Shatner parodying William Shatner.
I understand how fossils work, but I assumed that scat would be more likely to break down compared with flesh and bone. If you see scat in the woods it’s usually gone by the next day. otoh, if it were placed before a massive dust cloud landed, I guess that the lack of oxygen would slow the process.
A friend showed me a documentary from the 1980s. They were running around in radiation suits, hunting for deer.
Briefly, can someone explain how one forms? Why don’t they just biodegrade?
Keep at it. You learn by doing something; making a mistake; then doing it again a little better.
It was locked in. You couldn’t use ‘green stamps’ at a Top Value redemption center, any more than you can use a McDonald’s gift certificate at Starbucks.
There were a lot more independent supermarkets back in the day. They might or might not give out stamps.
Another, similar redemption trick was with cigarettes. You’d get one ‘ticket’ per pack, and extras if you got a whole carton. Marlboro was doing this well into the 1990s.
The only way to change the conditions of the test is to get out and support Left-leaning Dems in primaries.
And no, not all choices are valid. Voting doesn’t just affect the voter, it affects the whole country.
Totally related to the issue.
The issue is that the IRS is underfunded because big GOP contributors don’t want to have to go toe to toe with an agency that can make them pay taxes.
That’s why Trump got a surge of money after his New York City trial lose; rich folks hate the idea that the law might be used against them.
Read an interview with a bank robber once.
He said that there are a million things that can go wrong in a bank robbery, and if you’re a genius you can predict 100.
Any survival strategy is going to fail because no one will know exactly what’s coming down the road.
I’m waiting for a remake of ‘The Dirty Dozen’ where one actor named Chris plays all the roles.
Nancy Reagan was personally soft on abortion, but she knew it played to the base, so she was gung ho to overturn Roe V. Wade. That was until she found out stem cells might be able to help Ronnie’s dementia, then she was all for using corpses to make medicine.
The one I mentioned is a 2010 series from the BBC I just saw on BritBox streaming service.
I saw that one after I saw the 2016 version with Elijah Wood.
So the older version was ‘new’ to me.
Sorry for any confusion.
You picked a ‘cure’ that wasn’t tested.
It may seem crazy, but back in the day, artificial pneumothorax was the best thing they had.
