What version are you working on atm?
The name is Nobu as i am a nobody.
Likes your typical things like anime, music, horror and video games.
What version are you working on atm?
Oh no, I am sorry i should have been more specific. Homelab = Selfhosting. Those 2 terms get thrown around interchangeably? i think the word is.
Basically my homelab/Selfhost projects consist of things i can selfhost easily. Calendar, contacts/address book, my own “cloud” server, etc etc. Why do i need to let google know my calendar, or contacts, or my files. same goes for browser history/bookmarks etc. i use firefox so i run my own firefox sync server.
other things are “luxery”. like music collection, and what have you.
All in all, if i can keep my data 100% inside my house/server, then i am happy.
I swear, if you ever make this happen i would love to host/play in a private genshin server. Holy fuck if u get this done :O
I am also one to fixate from time to time on a game or a show. However right now i am fixated on my homelab. trying to make the best out of it, but also my linux distro (i reinstalled just few days ago, and probably will reinstall it again).
What i want from my linux distro (which i already have half done) is to be able to reinstall it, copy/paste command from my git repo and i am done. for software and fonts this is already the case, but i want to do more. like my theme on KDE, how i setup the taskbar, my dolphin layout, etc etc. so in future it can be copy/paste command + copy/paste .dot config files.
ProtonVPN user here for a very long time.
and my favorite of them all, has great core servers, secure servers (tor relayed etc), and my favorite is torrenting/p2p servers. I also use their mail server. The only thing i don’t use is their cloud drive and calendar (as i host my own).
When it comes to just any VPN, i also host my own so i can access my stuff from outside.
heard PIA is also good, mullvad would be my second choice if i wasn’t on protonvpn.
With pleasure! :D
I just downloaded the source and changed variables around. Working on adding an image now, which is giving me a pain in the ass to position xD coz i have to rebuild the project over and over to test.
Highly recommend building outside of docker if u want a quick test. I chose to stick with docker, which means every time i gotta create a new docker image just to see my changes, try to fix, repeat, etc.
Lemme know if u need help.
Nice :3 I use the same server, just changed a few things and different theme etc.
Ah amazing, then for sure u can bug disabled whenever u need help haha
Not to quite sure/100% looked into this. But I remember reading somewhere that the stuff you post on lemmy instances are basically copied over to other instances. Then lets say I decided today to delete my stuff from here, it will still live on another instance somewhere.
Don’t quote me tho please 🙏
You can choose to install on your main PC via docker. It just means the services are only usable when you are on your main PC (when main PC is on).
I highly recommend you to look into selfhosting and the whole idea of privacy and you owning 100% of your digital data etc.
Check out Obsidian. Works on all platforms, and with sync (drive, github) you can sync them all together so u can work on phone, continue on PC, or vice versa.
Checking OpenReads I realize it is less of a note taking app but a more of a book reader tracker. Pretty damn awesome. I highly recommend MediaTracker.
Oh wow, so many great freaking projects people are working on :D I love it! Thank you @Disabled@burggit.moe for this post.
Revisited my config files, Docker-compose, etc. The idea is to have that stuff all saved up (.yaml
, .conf
, etc). In case i wanna reinstall server, it will be a literal copy paste/click 1 button. Having Docker-compose + portainer is a gift to humanity. I cannot live without portainer.
@GalvyGalvyCwanbewwy@burggit.moe, I moved from many Note taking apps, back to Obsidian. Before this I was using Trilium Notes (which I really really love), but I decided to just go with Obsidian again.
Ah i feel you. I really like just encrypting all volume data (mounted to local folder), shipping it to diff drive, then uploading it to “cloud” as another back up. So far reliable, but i am sure not best solution. One thing is for sure tho, its easiest autobackup i can think of haha
I use proxmox, But i do it slightly different and i like to live dangerously :P
Proxmox > LXC container (debian) > Docker + Docker-compose + portainer
With that said, each docker container has a bind mount on my drive (for presistant data). No email, no verification if backup was good, etc etc. like i said, i like to live dangerously.
You could try pixel phones with grapheneOS
I would do the exact same to be honest. I have been looking into some of the “dumb” phones even tho they are smart, like those flip phones from japan etc.
Quite a few things. Awesomeselfhosted is a good resource to start for beginners.
Legit!
Hence why I try to create community for specific things (like selfhosted, or /anime and /manga (Thank you to @xdd for taking that one 🙏). There is literally no need for /anime2 for example. Makes things cleaner and we have a much better way to post/discuss etc.
Besides, i rather go to /anime than having to open /animeX (multiple tabs) to browse the same communities.
