I have a domain with one of the new TLD which I used for my emails.

Most services worked fine with it, but there were a few cases where my email was flagged as fraudulent and I had to call, explain it was legit and provide with another email.

There was one service I registered which explicitly said they oy accept gmail addresses.

Roughly one year ago I acquired a new domain using the .org extension, I am migrating my accounts to this one, and I havent had any problems so far.

So overall my conclusion is that most services are fine with custom emails, a few of them block based on TLD and an even smaller subset will allow only specific providers. Since I am moving alway from big corp, having a widely used TLD that seems to be accepted in most cases is my personal sweet spot.

Have you played around with Grafana? It really is quite simple if you have prometheus already working.

For a home lab environment you dont even need to use prometheus-alertmanager. Grafana can handle alerts as well.

Grafana also has hundreds of pre-made dashboards you can import. Node monitoring is quite straightforward.

Assuming you have prometheus good to go, all you need to do is go to Grafana - Datasources, create a new datasource, point to your prometheus instance.

Then you can import the dashboards you want.

Now you can setup your alerts - you can use SMTP, telegram, slack among others for your notifications.

Thanks for sharing! Not all people are aware of the possible dangers and I believe we tend to assume things are safe nowadays.

I don’t really have any issue for what the software is supposed to do. I can access my instance, read and edit, templates and queries work fine.

But overall the user experience is not so good on mobile. On desktop it is really easy to navigate my notes, specially so because of the great support for keyboard shortcuts. Now for mobile it doesnt feel too good. Navigation works but the interface is too small - making tapping a bit clunky. I also find it uncomfortable to use for to do lists - things like groceries lists that I need on the go. Sometimes toggling works fine if touch but sometimes it switches to view mode.

I really dont think any of that is an issue with the software itself. Its just the format I guess? I still use silverbullet and Ive never tried anything as good for organizing work stuff. But I still wish something more “native” for android.

What issues did you have? I have updated recently and didnt notice any problems so far. Also do you have any suggestion for alternatives? For me personally silverbullet is great for desktop usage, not so much on mobile though.

Never played 5e but in 3.5e the target of the spell - not the spellcaster - can roll a dice. The target can perform a will save to reduce healing amount by half.

I guess since in many cases you do actually need to roll a dice, like when peeforming a touch or ranged touch spell, people just assume it always happens.

And even in this case. Cure wounds is a spell like any other and it is subject to a will saving throw. So to be correct the pc that was targeted by the spell would indeed roll in order to save from the unintended heal - but thats really just assuming the spell could be used like this, which in my interpretation it cannot.

So again, even if the caster rolls no dice in this case, the target could. I think this leads to people thinking there must always be a roll.

Nope. It is an android app. The author is probably using some kind of webview to display the data, so html and css are for laying out and styling the components. This is pretty common nowadays

While I think Obsidian is pretty awesome I was disappointed with the outer worlds. Pentiment had a really interesting story though.

Because its fun even if the input method isnt perfect. Specially so for casual gamers. Both ports for age of empires play really well on console and I suppose age of mythology will be just as great.

But there must have been some advantage for twitter in having an office there, otherwise they wouldnt have opened it in the first place.

I don’t care for that new cosmetic drive thing. But the changes to respawn system could be interesting. Overwatch really needs to be played as a team and spamming “group up” can only do so much.

From what I can tell, not much. They use dashes “-” instead of pluses “+”.

But neither of these two options provide you with much privacy. Plus addresses, as others have pointed out, can be automatically stripped (just delete everything after the plus sign) and you get the real email behind it.

This service specifically I dont know the details, but it seems there is a unique prefix per user, but no “real email”. So for instance if you use gmail you can have “sunnie@gmail.com” as your real email. You then use “sunnie+lemmy@gmail.com” for your lemmy account. If that email gets leaked out somehow, people can easily tell your real email address is “sunnie@gmail.com”

This service seems to do something very similar with the difference there is no base email, so there isnt a “sunnie@port87.com”, there will only be “sunny-lemmy@port87.com”. It is worth pointing out you might still be tracked because all your emails will be prefixed with “sunny”. So although spammers wont be able to figure out your real email address they can just try something like “something-reddit@port87.com”, and if multiple of your addresses leak it will be easy to link them all up to the same person.

This also creates A LOT of lock in. Because if the service shuts down you now have dozens of services for which you don’t have means to access the emails anymore.

Yes, you do need to organize your stuff downstream if you so desire (I personally prefer not to). I will leave the comment though because they provide similar funcionality and might be helpful to someone.
