There’s a constant race between inventors and the universe. Inventors are trying to create idiot proof devices, and the universe is creating better idiots.
The universe is winning.
There’s always a trade off when it comes to any device.
Fast or slow, lots of features or basic, cheap or expensive, thin/stylish or ruggedized, water or other ingress resistant standards. All of these have to be weighted against each other.
Also what constitutes a drop? 4 feet, 40 feet, 400? (sorry if I turned on anyone with a foot fetish)
It is absolutely possible to create a mobile phone with most features people want that survives multiple 4 foot high drops, but it will be encased in a few cm of rubber, the touch screen will be under a noticeable screen protector, and reception might suffer a bit, and it won’t have wireless charging unless you’re ok if that stops working after a unlucky drop. It will also probably be expensive, even more so if you then want to use more premium materials in order to try and slim it down some.
Well, ideally climate change (and other problems like it, for example, microplastics) would be causing changes to most industries.
The problem is short term profits are still prioritised over long term stability and the whole not destroying the ecosystem or humanity thing.
It was one of the best value for money experiences I’ve ever had. Only beat out by The left 4 dead series based on hours played.
Wonder if it’s piloted using a steamdeck or controller?
It does not whip the llamas ass.
I didn’t think that receiving an organ from a police officer would be so controversial. /s
In all seriousness, the person was already suffering from several health issues that could have easily played a large part in their passing.
People with underlying health issues more likely to run into health problems. Amazing journalism.
AH: releases new Automaton in secret.
Enjoy the time as furniture as much as you can. Or family cat passed last year, I miss that the most
Please gtfo from the doors, this train is going to yeet.
From what I have seen, Sony seems to mostly turn a blind eye to people from unsupported regions simply selecting a supported region.
However it is stupid to have made the game available for sale in those unsupported regions, I agree.
I think that it began as a “gentlemen’s agreement” of sorts, but now that the game is SUPER POPULAR Sony wants all that juicy PII and that bump in active PSN accounts to appease shareholders.
I think the way they had planned on banning players for cheating and potentially unwanted behaviour was through PSN. People are also fairly sure it is a requirement in the contract with Sony that PSN accounts are required. It’s just due to server issues from popularity they removed the requirement.
So while it’s possible from a technical standpoint, there’s some non technical hurdles to overcome as well.
Games need to live closer to the bleeding edge than a lot of other software.
Also, for wine/proton, and the other customisations built into the deck, it makes sense to pick a starting point that is more built for customisation. By that I mean there was probably less things they needed to add or remove at the start.
As mentioned, it’s also likely there was personal bias internally. But even that can be a valid reason as they need to be familiar/comfortable with the starting distro.
Not saying that Debian cannot do it, but doing it this way probably made valve’s employees lives easier.
Judge: When she yelled out please don’t shoot, why did you shoot?
Officer: What I thought she said was “Please, shoot! He has an AK hidden underneath his shorts! Also they identify as a black FTM gay atheist!”
Judge: Understandable, I think I can hear that as well upon reviewing the footage again, case dismissed!

I feel for the family, mental health issues are not an easy thing to handle even when being treated. My grandmother had issues later in life including dementia and a few times we had to make sure to keep sharp objects out of the picture. It’s not easy. I hope that this helps improve things for others down the line in some way, improved police training, improved awareness, something.
Sounds like they would need to redesign the system in some way to solve the issue, e.g. move the SD card slot away from heat generating components. Depending on the volume of sales and complexity of the work, they could have decided it would be more viable from a monetary standpoint to not do anything.
Adobe well probably use the tried and true excuse of “scanning for child abuse material” and cry that anyone who refuses must be a pedo.
Then they’ll just steal the data anyway and use/sell it to train AI models.
