  • Nobody wants to see anybody die. All life is precious, all life is mournable. But like, c’mon the Gaza Strip doesn’t have any moral high ground. I’m with you this is horrific. But the situation is an absolute cluster fuck of human rights violations. The only way to speak on the situation with any accuracy is to write a tiny dissertation of qualifiers first. Like any hot take on the Gaza Strip should be 200 words minimum.

  • I mean you can zoom-in on any event and make a moral judgement. Like people say Hiroshima was objectively wrong…but also like ww2 wasn’t ending, future casualties, etc, etc. Every event has a broader context. (I get it might not play as well on social media where little nuggets of altruism get the most traction). It’s not an excuse, people do need to zoom in on one event sometimes. But like the Gaza Strip is definitely not an easy moral slam dunk.

I think people are more upset that game reviewers lauded a meh product — checks and balances sort of thing. Like we’re at the point that Skillup claims his hour long review of Cyberpunk was actually really nuanced because he mentioned some caveats. I mean Paul Tassi said Starfield was his 2023 game of the year, lol. I honestly believe they can’t even see the bias of how going all in on a big AAA release is good for them.

  • Idk if you know what you’re rallying against. People aren’t saying companies should just blindly hire someone. People are saying it’s worrying that the most profitable and culturally relevant industry isn’t attracting a diverse crowd. That could mean there’s rampant gatekeeping, nepotism, sexism, abuse, etc. it’s like when men complain of the ratio of men to women on dating apps—they’re not saying to pretend there’s more women (like scamming numbers or somehow tricking women to joining), they’re alerting people that the app doesn’t provide ideal conditions to attract more women (or I guess less men). Like a skewed dating app (except much much worse) having less diversity on tech hurts everyone.
