So it’s by pure coincidence that our moon is the exact shape and distance away to perfectly obscure the sun during an eclipse?
I can see how people can say there is a Grand Design.
Well, it keeps getting further away and used to be closer. So, you know, you have another 600 million years. And in an infinite universe even the improbable is inevitable somewhere.
It’s also temporary, since the moon moves away from the earth at a rate of 38 mm or 1.5 inches per year, which is roughly the same rate as human fingernails grow, according to the “earth-moon system” section of the Wikipedia page. :)
Grand design indeed.
