I might get a lot of hate cause most people have some sort of jewelry on them (ear rings, rings, nose rings whatever) but this is my opinion about jewelry so sorry to hurt your fealings if you wear that stuff.

Jewelry, especially ear rings and rings are disgusting. My girlfriend knows about this and I am happy she doesn’t wear any sort of jewelery when I am around. I think optically those big ear rings that look like a hoolahoop dangeling back and forth make people look like they have absolutely no or very low income and come from poverty, some kind of Ghetto.

Every time I see someone with piercings they look infectd. I can only imagine what it smells like under the piercing near the hole when for example water can’t be dryed underneith. It’s gotta smell bad.

Honestly jewelry is just a huge downgrade anyone can waste their money on. Especially if it’s mostly 90% cheap China jewelry from those 5-20$ shops in a mall or from some kind of tourist place in any country.

I dislike jewelry, it might have to do with my phobia against metallic stuff but I will refuse to wear any sort of ring in my entire life. No I won’t wear a ring for a wedding.

Don’t care if people say germs don’t last on rings. If someone prepares the food I ordered with a ring on I could puke. I won’t eat it. The only disgusting thing that can top that off is when I order food and pay and the person touches my food with the hands without washing. This happens a lot in germany at some bakeries or butchers which is why I don’t buy food at some places anymore.

So in short: Jewelry = cheap Jewelry = disgusting Jewelry = makes one look like a clown

rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, toe-rings, anklets, armlets, charms, bangles, cuff links, hairpins, tie pins, chains, brooches, teeth grills, and the list goes on.

Thats all I have to say to this topic. I don’t think anyone can change my mind. Because for me nothing is worse than having to look at someone that wear jewelry. And yes, I sometimes can’t even look at people - especially if they have those dangeling ear rings. I rather look at the floor while talking with that person.

My most “old guy, toxic masculinity” opinion is that I’m utterly disgusted and repelled by men who wear jewelry, especially rings on their fingers. Also, any kind of gaudy chains. Earrings and other piercings don’t bother me as much, but non-wedding rings (especially multiple per hand), rings with big stones, big chains, bracelets, anachronistic-ass expensive wristwatches, etc…it just INSTANTLY makes me think “this isn’t a real man that I’m dealing with, here. This is a prissy little peacock, who doesn’t deserve an ounce of my attention, and certainly none of my respect.”

Ironically, the cultures and subcultures most likely to wear that sort of jewelry are prone to engaging in other types of machismo, toxic-masculinity-style, male-chauvinistic shit.

Maybe it really is toxic of me, but I think a man should be as unadorned as possible, in order to command real respect. I mean, that’s the base level that you start from. I’m not instantly going to give a guy Max Respect Points, just because he’s in a plain t-shirt and jeans. I’m just saying, flashy shit instantly DETRACTS from that potential respect. You earn respect based on your actions, not your appearance. Therefore, when I see flashy clothes, jewelry, watches, designer sunglasses, fancy shoes, it immediately makes me think “this dude is compensating for a complete lack of real character.”

So you really don’t believe someone can like something for themselves and not for how others see it? In my mind, that’s a sign of massive insecurity on your part, projecting that 100% of others think that much about what people think about their stuff, rather than just buying things they like.

Some people are definitely compensating, but you can buy a Porsche as a trust fund baby with something to prove, or as an engineer who is enthusiastic about design, performance, and guaranteed replacement parts for even discontinued models.

I think you’ve gotta worry a lot about what others think of you in order to assume that’s the only reason someone else would buy something.

Therefore, when I see flashy clothes, jewelry, watches, designer sunglasses, fancy shoes,

I think I know the kind of guy you’re talking about, however I think you’re judging quite wrongly. I mean, come on:
