Undead Unluck has a character who constantly regenerates his body and wears a mimic as clothing. It would be pretty practical for adventuring.

Sounds like Crowley and his plants.

And that’s another David Tennant character from a streaming TV adaptation. Guess he’s just good at that sort of thing.

The Doctor also regularly intimidates whole alien galactic empires and eldritch abominatios from beyond space and time. By just standing there, talking. And pointing out he’s doing so without having a single weapon on him. Tennant was great at that.

“Don’t play games with me. You just killed someone I liked. That is not a safe place to stand. I’m the Doctor! You’re in the biggest library in the universe. Look me up.”

In games I run, mimics hate being covered in alcohol because it dissolves their sticky goo stuff, but can still be bribed with beer because it makes them feel great.

Hypothetically, could a mimick turn into the beer, get drank by the barbarian, and then turn into a giant causing the barbarian to explode?

You don’t have to change size to become something of the same size that is razor sharp and next to some very unarmored innards.

Good thing Barbarians got unarmored defense and proficiency at Constitution saving throws. Chances are the whole mimic just gets digested like a snack.

If the mimic wanted to be clever maybe they should have targeted the rogue or something.

In 3.5 you can attack unarmed or with a light weapon when you’re swallowed whole, and I’d say that qualifies. But it’s not an instant-kill.

In the show he was a sociopath with mind control powers, which if you know what he’s capable of (as JJ did), could be fairly intimidating.

David Tennant, not so much 😆 (Although he was terrific in that role)

Kilgrave was indeed something else (I’d say that Tennant managed to make him significantly more intimidating than the original), but he’s also absolutely terrifying as the Doctor, when he stops trying not to be. And as someone else pointed out Good Omens’ Crowley can be pretty intimidating when he wants to.

Tennant is actually very good at playing intimidating characters.
