All the stuff in your keychain seem useless, your phone already has flashlight, carrying knife is just plain weird, the watch and the bracelet I can understand as fashion items.

And you felt the need to express this opinion on an EDC forum where literally everyone carries these items? So it seems you are just a troll after all. Got it. I will make sure to disregard any further troll foolishness from you.

      Have a nice day

@brb @MrJameGumb [1/3] Fair enough, where else could one ask? Lemme explain…

Everyone has an every day carry - wallet, keys, phone, etc. Many women have an extended EDC in their purse like wipes, an umbrella, bandaids, makeup etc. The internet community is mostly men who like to extend their EDC to be more prepared.

The idea is reducing friction in everyday tasks, always being ready to help people, fix things, etc. I don’t use my knife most days, but when I need to, it’s handy!

@brb @MrJameGumb [2/3] If you have a phone, a small flashlight isn’t mandatory as a survival tool, but it’s immensely useful as it’s still brighter. With my tiny light I can briefly light up a room on “turbo” to improve the lighting in a photo, check if that silhouette in the distance is a deer or a cougar (I live in a city lol), or in an emergency save my phone’s battery. The lowest brightness of this light can run for weeks.

Your EDC can be useful for survival, work, or fulfilment.

            • @brb @MrJameGumb [3/3] Lastly, about knives…

I don’t suggest the use of a knife for self defense. The winner of a knife fight is the one that bleeds out in the ambulance, and most people aren’t trained in how to avoid that. Most of the weapon-y looking pocketknives people post are strictly there as tools!

If we’re being honest, they’re mostly for opening boxes, letters, cutting fruit, little mundane things. The swiss army knife is the world’s most popular style of pocketknife for a reason :)
