Colin Blake’s wife was not overly concerned when she saw her husband’s big toe red and swollen during their 35th wedding anniversary cruise.

After all, most holidaymakers suffer the sting of blisters from new sandals rubbing at the feet after a day of exploring.

So the unsuspecting couple were left horrified when their on-board doctor told them a Peruvian wolf spider had bitten Mr Blake and laid eggs inside his toe.

Spider’s eggs then poured out of Mr Blake’s toe as the doctor cut it open.

      It’s an odd one as it’s a named person who spoke to the BBC so they, presumably, have medical records to back this up.

      However, a quick Google reveals that there are no spiders that can lay eggs under your skin.

      So either someone was pulling the Beeb’s leg or it is a different insect that can do this. 🤷
