I think that’s a big part of the disconnect…people in Republican run states see all these benefits given to immigrants in liberal run states and go “hey that shit is not fair!”

But they don’t understand that in liberal states we also give those things to citizens. I’m a white, cis, male, born-American citizen. I get free college classes. I got those free government checks during covid, and welfare when I was out of work. I got a voucher for low income housing. I’m doing good now (and paying very high taxes for it) but when I was down, the State of California had my back.

We give benefits to poor people and take extra taxes from rich people. We just don’t care if you’re an immigrant or not.
