I use both Firefox and Opera on my Android phone, the PWA shortcuts from both of these browsers always disappear sooner or late from my home screen. Any alternative or fix for my problem?
Edit: I use Poco F3 with Android 11, MIUI 12.5.8, and Lawnchair launcher. Auto-update my browsers.
Kiwi Browser works best for me.
So turns out it’s a launcher problem, not a browser problem. Thanks for the suggestion though, I’ve tried Kiwi browser and it’s great for Chrome-alternative, but ultimately I picked Opera for the features.
I use Mulch. It’s close to stock Chrome without Google nonsense and with extra site separation protection. Probably Cromite too.
No clue about disappearing icon… Never had that with any browser.
Maybe it’s a problem caused by my phone setting then. Thanks, will check out the browser now :D
Is lawnchair the one from playstore or the latest closed alpha? The shortcut disappear issue sounds like a launcher issue. You can try hermit if you desire. But, better would be to get a different launcher. Try something like Smart launcher 5 or Action launcher and see if that makes any difference.
I use the one from playstore. Sure, I’ll try the launchers you suggest later. Even if it doesn’t fix my problem, it’s about time I launcher hop anyway :D
I asked because the one on the playstore hasn’t been updated in years. They have an active alpha on telegram. Try that if interested
Hey, thanks! I never check their page so I didn’t realize that the playstore ver. hasn’t been updated for years.
I’m currently trying out Kvaesitso launcher, very neat FOSS but too unfamiliar. Need time to tinker and customize to my taste, so I think I’ll go with latest alpha Lawnchair.
How’s your experience with it? Is the latest version stable enough for you? I don’t mind minor bugs that doesn’t really disrupt my workflow.
The last time I tried lawnchair was 6 months ago. It was fine. But, currently using smart launcher 6 which has been good and feature rich so far.
Disappearing icons is a bug with your launcher, nothing to do with the actual browser you’re using.
If you’re looking for a browser that was specifically designed for web apps, check out Hermit. (Disclaimer: I’m the author).
Wow, I just checked the webpage. It’s the browser I never knew I needed.
Even if this doesn’t solve my problem I’m really intrigued with it, especially the sandbox feature. Will try it out for sure, downloading now.
