not called Brad but rather a lad, from Bradford in the UK.
Enjoys breaking apps, escooters, spam rings and sometimes bones, but not my own. That sucks.
ninja edit: Hell, even a Chromebook will see you right with some of your other complaints in this thread about Taskbars etc. Unless of course you’re averse to anything Corp / they spying on you in which case you’re fucked anyhoo.
Fraid not.
I recall worrying about MAC address tracking one time and using Chainfire’s MAC privacy app, but that’s a non factor now since they’re randomised by default on Android on the most recent versions.
I find apps and Automod bots, are a better way of fucking that shit off even if users didn’t mean to post some =ref/tag infested URL.
Having bots post uninvoked as a reply to the OP though should be better managed as they detract the comments thread?
You know, I’d 99% of the time agree with you but has anyone else tried out the little (travel?) routers from GL-iNet?
Their default router interface ain’t half bad at all, and if you do need to use Luci you can simply do that too
I bought a couple of them for a family member and they haven’t poked me once for help with them.
Can confirm, I’ve used it for years and checking their XDA thread from 2011 states that it still supports Froyo? Amazing

It’s ridiculous they don’t include either and I say that as someone who doesn’t actually need either, really.
But it’s nice to be able to backup my DCIM folder to the SDcard and then sync that via a network share on a regular basis, especially if I hadn’t got adb enabled and/or I had a smashed screen?
It also allows me to just wipe my internal storage anytime without worry because I don’t record many videos and photos take up fugg all storage with a 3.2.1 backup plan.
edit: What’s the point of excluding, a headphone jack too I feel is the real question.
Hold on a second Mister OP, you missed the most important pros and cons.
Has an IR Blaster thank fuck, but, is missing a 3.5mm jack and SDCard.
I know these “cons” are meme complaints by now and while I’ve actually used Bluetooth earbuds before Android was a thing (see, jackless Sony Walkman W850…), but feel you should be including them as cons since many revel for those simple hardware bonuses we’re used to from Xiaomi.
Alas :(
Indeedys!
Exactly what I do and I feel the MVNO market here in the UK has kept things sane for quite a few years now. The problem exists when people take out “contract deals” and get themselves into “credit”.
Also the fact we can now text our current operator for a PACode means we can jump between PAYG deals, monthly.
Even if my carrier tried charging me for a MMS, fools on me if they do succeed since I’m PAYG.
If they manage to fool you into paying for them? Fool on you for signing up to contracts that allow that behaviour. And the fact that you’re looking for a solution to this is very “blinkered”.
A contactless card in the back of your phone case?
Note - The above answer doesn’t take in where you’re from since you didn’t state so and I imagine there’s plenty of places that can’t simply do that but…even though I could?
I personally won’t bring my C&P / contactless card out of the house unless necessary since it allows would-be finders instant access to withdrawals from my bank account, without any authentication required whatsoever unlike, GPay on my phone which at the very least needs my fingerprint?
It also pisses me off to be honest that my bank won’t supply me with a C&P, non-contactless card like my last bank did :/
No doubt, and there used to be an app called “all for one IR remote” or something like that that I can’t find from a cursory skim.
It allowed programming of codes from your existing remotes and also the bonus of using a URI for a IR code which then meant you could fire them off with other apps.
Problem these days is the hardware that supports IR Blasters is controlled by the likes of Xiaomi, and the apps available to use said hardware is limited to in-built system apps :/
I’d be curious how many account holders in the UK have actually been prosecuted for copyright infringement.
In nearly two decades with the same ISP (Telewest > Blueyonder > VirginMedia) I’ve had a grand total of two emails from them with no teeth in it, and still download what I want from public trackers to this day.
I get an actual letter from them? Yay, free toilet paper!
*typo
See the thing is, I’m pretty sure Tasker can do that and we ain’t gonna let this meme die?
Make a Tasker widget that invokes said Termux script and we have nice UI too?
Or stop uploading screenshots altogether.
I have two Rasp Pi Zero’s stuck behind my TV that cost me £10+£10 DVB HAT’s x 2 (before the COVID scalpers took effect) as a poor mans Homerun server that have plenty of storage - be that a new USB drive stuck in them or even using my NAS with NFS for storage.
Device cost/viability isn’t a thing here.
It’s getting people signing up to a (e: tracking) service that’ll be plastered with adverts every 15 mins? I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.
They’ll take my TVHeadend servers out of my cold dead hands if they think I’m signing up for that?
Main thing is Capt, you’re here to tell us your best stories.
Tell us your most favourite food please, and how you came across it? Mine’s carbonara and an Italian girlfriend who loved that shit.
I wonder if what you could do is look into a Stingray device and plonk that in your car to make it to connect to that instead of local cell towers?

edit: whoa, I just looked at the prices of them. Surely there’s something a clever Trevor could put together here…
edit II: As someone else mentioned, Femtocells.
I’ve always wondered about buying one years ago but they seem like a rarity here these days. Also, manipulating that data / telemetry to show you in Antarctica has got to be on someone’s fun list?
