Why would you worry about that? Carrots are known to be a particularly firm vegetable.
If anything, my first batch of carrots came out too firm.

It’s 3 dl water, 2 dl white vinegar, 0.5 dl sugar and 1.5 teaspoons salt. The carrots have some dried and ground chili, and the cucumbers have dill.
