(Basically, treat the children as small adults whose opinions are as important as your own. Don’t use any type of force and don’t use your authority to make them do things)

Well, my brother is on the autistic spectrum and needed a firm structure, so he screamed and screamed until they locked him in the basement because they literally didn’t know what else to do. He calmed down immediately and they changed their parenting style after that.
