  • Yeah. You’re getting menus to buy Office 365 and Gamepass in Settings. Stuff like that. That’s not the main reason I’m not using Windows, but it’s a small brick in the wall. Of course, everyone can use whatever makes them happy. I like having things to be setted up for my personal usecases, so I’m using Linux.

I thought that the sub OP was complaining about pro-Linux memes and just posts complaining/making fun of Windows. Also, no, it’s not just an EU thing. Windows 10 displays ads in start menu, 11 is a little bit better when it comes to taskbar, but they’re advertising in settings and other places. Also, a lot of telemetry and bloatware. Requiring to login, to create an account is a deal braker for me too. It’s not a bad OS, but not good either. It has a good software support, so you don’t need to use stuff like Wine or Proton, to run some apps/games(and some apps don’t work even with Wine, because of the DRMs), so I still have a VM inside my Artix with Windows(debloated, tho).

Yeah. It’d make things a lot easier. Today I made a mistake and got into a discussion with the tankies from hexbear. Don’t recommend. Will call you a nazi for not agreeing with their every statement.

Edit: Not all of them of course. Tho, I’d say that the most uses ad personam as an ultimate argument.

I’d advise to not use the waybar. It depends heavly on systemd. eww on the other hand works perfectly with other init systems. Also, it’s better to install some terminal emulator and application launcher first, otherwise working with the WM while configuring might be annoying.

There is no universal guide. It depends on whether you are using DE or WM and which one. Then, if it’s WM, you need to find other things, such as a terminal emulator, application launcher, status bar, etc. For example, I’m currently configuring Hyprland with kitty, rofi, eww and a few other things. All of them have their own wikis and docs. I would advise you to start with something simpler or use someone’s rice, some of them come with installation scripts.

What do you mean? Configuring all of those things, or the installation?

Edit: If the first one, then you’ll need to provide more information about what you want to configure. There are multiple guides and info on wikis.
