I don’t think there’s anything fundamentally wrong with a group pushing for ideological change. Lots of groups on the left do that, too. What does bother me is that it’s easier for groups that promote the interests of rich people to gain funding and thus influence.

Supposedly it costs $13 USD to produce a five-day course of medication, but it’s sold to governments at disgusting prices because they can get away with it. It wouldn’t be capitalism if useful medicine was easily accessible, would it?

To be fair with such a small sample size, I guess a perfectly proportionate representation of NZ (besides push/pull factors for lemmy) can’t be expected.
I suspect the race-baiting we’re likely going to get wrt Treaty of Waitangi and such is going to, coincidentally, be a convenient distraction from all the nasty shit they’re going to pull in the next three years.
While I believe private business has its use, this is a refreshing take to see. I’m sick of the constant idolisation of small business owners.

As a young person myself I get the vibe that many my age do not really give a shit about New Zealand politics and would rather fixate on what’s going on in the US. Possibly because with how international social media is, news and discourse regarding that spreads the easiest. I think this is a large part of the problem. I know people who barely know the basics about our parties and what they stand for, and they’re well old enough to vote.
We can’t let these fascists overtake society.
At this point they should just campaign on cancelling Christmas and kicking puppies.

I seriously think that if we want any hope of getting out of the mess we currently are in we need stronger local communities - co-housing could be a very real way to enable that.
I switched to Tidal from Spotify, never looked back.
Our debt is also fairly low compared to many countries. The hysteria around irresponsible govt spending is hot air.
I think all western countries are going the same way, just to different degrees. We’re quite far away so it takes longer for that crap to reach us but it is festering.
Mm. I’ve been disengaging from the drama in the past week or so and have felt much better. I won’t let the ghouls ruin my spring.
