Every since I’ve been in the industry for literally decades at this point I was always told, even when in school, “Never test in production, never roll anything out to production on a Friday, if you’re unsure have someone senior code review” of which, Crowdstrike, failed to do all of the above. Even the most junior of junior devs should know better. So the fact that this update was allowed go through…I mean blame the juniors, the seniors, the PM’s, the CTO’s, everyone. If your shit is so critical that a couple bad lines of poorly written code (which apparently is what it was) can cripple the majority of the world…yeah crowdstrike is done.

Well this is just absolutely untrue. If there’s a pool of people who want to work then someone will just give them a job? what kind of magical unicorn world are you living in? So in your world unemployment rates just…don’t exist or are a fabrication? those people are just lazy?

If you got fired from your job and you couldn’t find another one, in your head, whose fault is that? yours? the mythical job provider who hasn’t blessed you with another?

If I ran a business and was provided the option of hiring you or someone in another country for peanuts, I’d tell you to kick grass.

But you want to work I hear you say! someone HAS to pay me to do something! nope, I’m not going to pay you, I’m going to pay this kid in India or his brother that just got off the plane half of what I would have to pay you.

I work with the homeless. the main misconception is that they’re all either addicts or mentally ill. This is far, far, from true. The ones you see daily, chances are they are addicts or mentally ill but the “hidden” homeless vastly out weighs the ones you see on the streets.

Most have jobs or are actively looking for work. A lot are escaping domestic abuse or are LGBTQ+ and escaping hostile home environments. There are A LOT of families and elderly people who simply can’t afford to keep a roof over their heads.

as someone who was homeless I’d let them in to take a shower and trim themselves up. If they’re an addict or mentally ill then no, i’d direct them somewehre else. I’ve had way too many bad interactions with both, especially addicts. If it was a homeless person who was sober and mentally sound? yeah i’d provide help because I know that programs and resources don’t exist for them they’re tailored for the addicts and mentally ill. Hell i’d even offer my couch. But addicts know the system and they’re only going to your door to rip you off. and the mentally ill don’t even know they’re homeless so they wouldn’t be knocking and asking for help anyways.

they also refuse to crack down on their people immigrating to the west in droves via…surprise, surprise…scamming. They scam their way into countries by lying and falsifying documents. Saying their immigrating to go to school when in truth they’re doing it for the easy PR status. Essentially travelling half way across the world to attend a community college and get a degree or certification in a minium wage field. And they can barely do that as most fail their community college classes. you essentially have “businesses” in india set up purely to scam people into a western country.

But they provide cheap and exploitable labor for companies in countries they immigrat to and they’re too ignorant to realize they’re being exploited. And then you have the Indians who immigrated legitimately and start their own businesses now being shaken down by organized Indian gangs who entered the country the same way the “students” did in order to scam “protection money” that gets sent right back to crime families in India.

If there’s one country that needs to be sanctioned and it’s people barred from entering a country it’s India. at least until they get their own house in order. I guarantee you in a few years they’ll be no better than russia.

Too late. Guy could literally peel over next week and they’d be screwed. But I got no dog in this fight. I’m in Canada. and although my elderly parents live in the US and I do worry about them with this election there’s nothing I can do. It’s like watching an oncoming ship wreck and you’re just screaming at the passangers (US citizens) to get off the boat, get on the life boats, save themselves while you stand on land not being able to do anything but watch. I imagine the rest of the world feels the same way.

I mean i’m worried for you guys, like truly worried.

if something broke on Windows or I tried to fix an issue that was bugging me on that OS it felt like a chore and was frustrating. If something breaks or I have an issue I want to fix on Arch I actually have fun and enjoy doing it.

The only problem with that is that it can really lead you down a rabbit hole. you fix or improve one thing and then you start wondering what else you can fix and improve on your install and all of sudden the day is gone becaue you’ve decided you want cmus to display album covers.

in all honesty, that’s what you Americans need to do. the days of peaceful protests and marching are behind you, you missed that boat a while ago. now a ship named “Revolution” has just pulled into dock and if you’re not on that boat then there’s no more boats coming.

Stop using the excuse of “but I need to work, I have to pay rent, I have to pay bills” because in 4 months time you might not have a job to pay those bills or rent. hell depending on if you’re a woman, LGBTQ+, liberal, black, an immigrant, etc, etc, etc you might have none of the above.

The American people and the country as a whole are literally, currently, right now in real time dying by a thousand cuts. you’re being slowly and methodically murdered with precision and too many of you don’t realize you’re dying. Time to demand heads on pikes and if they aren’t handed to you, well you need to go out and get them.

One way or another people are going to die. I mean I’m not going to sugar coat this, people will die.

So the question is would you rather die laying on your back doing nothing or would you rather die saving whats left of your nation and fighting for your fellow American?

think you Americans are beyond a peaceful protest at this point, right now you need a revolution. you are quite literally 4 months away from a potential dictatorship.

Cause I’m sure all the people who have taken part in all the successful revolutions in all of history their first concern was “but I gotta pay my rent”. It’s a death by a thousand cuts. the powers that be KNOW americans are pissed off and they also KNOW americans won’t do anything about it, by design. all it takes is a revolution, but Americans won’t do that, they’re too afraid.
