Pdf has a mind-bogging array of features, which make it so entrenched in the corporate world with no viable replacements at the moment. Things like forms where users can fill them out and submit (surprisingly a popular feature), cryptographic signing to prevent tampering, DRM, etc. Heck, I think you can even add JavaScript code to a pdf.

Every once in a while security researchers would discover sophisticated exploits that would allow malwares to take over your computer via multimedia files, but those are actually rarely exploited in the wild by run off the mill malwares.

Unless you’re an important person being targeted by hackers and three letter agencies, your biggest source of threat is running infected programs from untrusted sources, e.g. cracks downloaded from random torrents or warez sites, shady sites serving ads that trick you to run some executables, etc.

Like other mentioned, a lot of old games sold right now actually packaged with dosbox. Some even packaged with Wine so it can run on different platforms. The real problem would be emulating current modern graphic stacks but that would be future preservists’ problem.

Google does that a lot with their own web properties. I remember Google Meet didn’t support background replacement on Firefox, but switching Firefox’s user agent to Chrome suddenly fixed it.

It seems Mozilla is not immune to the AI hype. I just hope their AI endeavour won’t kill them when the AI hype finally ends.

It used to be a lot slower, which is why when Chrome showed up with its shiny new V8 engine (and other features) people switched from Firefox en masse. Now the performance difference is no longer noticeable.

The doors can be unlocked using a relay attack done with off the shelf radio gear. Once the doors are open a new keyfob can be paired to the car using more off the shelf tools and another relay that makes the car think the owners fobs are in the vehicle.

Aren’t basically all cars in the market like this? Which mass produced car models are currently not susceptible to relay attack? Why does the thief target CRV specifically if they have tools that can steal other cars as well?

Where did that unskilled person get the necessary tools to learn this stuff? The tools to reprogram new fobs are probably expensive and mere thugs probably won’t spend their money to buy one themselves. This seems to indicate a presence of underground organized crime rings that go around recruiting people to steal cars for them.

The CRV is reasonably secure, so this means the thieves are actually very organized and have technical know-how to steal the cars? Or do they simply load the car into a flatbed and drive away?
