Yes, that’s exactly what I mean. It’s nuts that a word means something totally different in one specific area of the world because it’s politically convenient to ignore what it actually means.

Yeah, it’s hard to explain in the US and Canada, where there are only two major parties, that they don’t represent two ends of a political spectrum. They’re just two dominant parties that have different ideas; on a lot of things, they even agree and don’t hide it.
I wish we, as kids in society, had learned more about specific right-wing and left-wing policies in history and civics so that this distinction could be made more clear. Or at least that we were taught what liberalism is and what neoliberalism is and how they’re different.
But we didn’t and weren’t, so when people think “liberal” they think “left,” and we’re all worse off for it.
Kind of annoying that the “contribute” page on the site is actually a donate link. I thought it was info on how to get involved in the project.
Right now this site only covers part of Washington state, USA, so it’s not very useful for others yet. That said, I did vote for my area in Canada and included a list of the shitty property management companies nearby.
Out of curiosity, what prompted you to pick something that costs money over something free?
Well, then I guess everyone involved got what they wanted. Are you upset because things didn’t go the way they were never going to go? It was obvious from the outset that he would never step foot in prison even outside of this conspiracy to withhold evidence.
“We can’t possibly determine the truth in this circumstance because officers of the court and the law both conspired to establish a pre-determined outcome by misusing their authority and resources, so we’ll ensure that you can’t be charged again.”
Maybe cops and lawyers should play by the rules if they want the law to put people in prison.
there is a cap at $5000/MwH
It’s MWh (megawatt hours). That’s only for wholesale electricity, which is available to retail electrical providers, not consumers. So your utility company can charge you whatever they want, but their price is capped. Funny how that works.
More info about the cap specifically available here. (PDF)
The Macarena and/or the YMCA dance, it’s fun for kids to do over and over but harmless.
Hm, I guess I have seen that, but never considered that it could be a high-grossing day. My wife’s family would burn us in effigy if we tried to suggest leaving the house during the day so I’ve never really thought of it much.
If we don’t come to Christmas it’s as though we’ve killed the very concept of happiness. We’d never hear the end of it if they found out we went to a movie instead.
They’re open on Boxing Day, as stated in the post. It’s only usually businesses run by people that don’t celebrate Christmas that are open (like Chinese restaurants, and that one gas station run by a Pakistani family in my old rural town that saved my hide in 2012 by being open after I forgot to get gas on Christmas Eve).
Haha, I went to Catholic school and I thought it was so weird that we had to learn square dancing in 2003 (I was in grade 3).
It was even weirder when I learned in high school that it wasn’t just my school, this was like a widespread thing! But I guess there’s weird history there. TIL.
No, replacing your HVAC or control systems will not magically fix the engineering issues present in your home/building. You will have to compensate for poor design indefinitely unless you want to demolish and start over.
Maybe we’re negotiating for a discount on refurbs, lol.
Life-raft Chic.
Interesting to see Dasia on my front page, and for something unrelated to rollerskating.
Cool, that’s about the age I came out as a trans guy to my parents. They didn’t handle it well but they came around after 5 years or so of separation. Anyway, this is something I sent to them that was good advice from my point of view: https://www.rainbowhealthontario.ca/resource-library/families-in-transition-a-resource-guide-for-parents-of-trans-youth/
I’m Canadian, so it’s Canada-focused, but I’m sure most of it will still apply.
This is actually kinda sad, I hope they have access to some help. I’d rather believe anon really is a Malkavian.
I was really into ancient Egypt as a kid and read about this growing up. The level of medical knowledge they seemed to have (or at least their willingness to wing it) is very interesting!
I bought BioFreaks for PS1 because it looked fun. I knew it would be janky and have weird physics, but it’s also got a weird dystopian story too!
To be fair, I was 8 or 9 at the time, but it’s an entertaining piece of shit, like Pitball (also for PS1).
