In general i don’t understand why people are buying any nonessential items at all. Everyone is apparently too poor but random crap still sells. I splurged and bought a cheap tablet to use as an ereader this year but only because i can’t justify the expense of buying books and my local library is awful.

If prohibition doesn’t work then why ban vaping? If prohibition does work then why not ban smoking? The billions in tax money is why.

Economic imbalance is baked into the games.

Taking your own air conditioner and rubbing it in the face of those who can’t afford it, in the olympic village where you’re all supposed to be treated the same, is such a glaring display of economic privilege that i find it bothersome.

I’m always embarrassed by Australia spending a fortune on sport and then congratulating ourselves for winning more medals, especially at the commonwealth games where most of the countries are poor.

You can’t remove individual differences but there ought to be a level playing field at least at the actual competition. Is it acceptable to provide better accommodation to rich countries? White countries? I think at the games everyone should be treated equally.

That would be Australia. We are less extreme than the US but still succumb to fear tactics. We did manage to get marriage equality despite a conservative government so there’s that.

The athletes who get aircon will also be determined by who comes from a wealthy country. Makes a mockery of the games imo, should disqualify them all for having an unfair advantage.

They want people to smoke, that’s the only explanation. They make money from taxing it and save money when people die early.

I understand this reasoning, it just doesn’t work for me personally, it has the reverse effect, and they were really over the top about how they put it in solely to make it look like eggs, if they’d said it was to make it look nice i probably wouldn’t have reacted. I love paprika though and i think i would try that.

Making your food look like some other kind of food that you don’t even eat seems very silly to me. I watch a ton of cooking shows and this is the only time i’ve seen a chef do this. By all means make your tofu scramble however you like it, i don’t even see why it would look gross if it wasn’t yellow. It’s not about the colour, it’s about their expressly stated desire for pretense. They repeated several times tbat this was to make it look like eggs. If scrambled tofu is tasty then present that, it could be great with paprika, but if you have to make your food look like something else then i’m inclined to think it can’t stand on it’s own and probably sucks.
