    OK, so by your logic, all prison sentences should be for life. They can’t be fixed, so we’ll just have to keep them locked up then, right? Gosh, these prisons sure are starting to fill up… maybe we should give everyone the death penalty instead? They’re going to die in prison anyways…

    I guess lawyers are bad too because they also advocate for murderers. Lock them up as well!

  • Sure, but “effectiveness” is usually not a binary and is often difficult to measure. Small, but persistent changes should still add up. Eventually.

    So long as people recognize that these things are in fact quite toothless, I’m not sure they are entirely detrimental. There’s no reason this couldn’t be used as a starting point for more effective action, now that signatories are in greater contact with the campaign.

    The point is the absurdity of american government, which Biden as the president, is a symbol of.

    When advantageous, most republicans would also claim that the US respects international law, then turn around and pass a vote like this.

    EDIT: about a third of house dems supported the bill
