Let’s see how that works out for them.
Judging by the comments you get if you suggest switching away from Reddit, Reddit will do very well. I won’t be there, but they’ll be successful even if the site goes more to shit.

I hated her as a kid watching the show. But now I realize that I agree with her teleportation-is-murder-stance. I mean, it’s definitely murder.
Meta will try to have good content. Then they’ll add features rapidly calling them “standards”. The open source community won’t be able to keep up. Meta content will not work fully on Lemmy and other clients. People will migrate to meta controlled instances to keep the good content. The open source and community versions will end up being a pain and only for the true believers like Linux desktop.
No, but they both work for the same people.
A lot of practice amps have really nice cleans at bedroom volumes. Like not just acceptable but really really good. My teacher has this cheap $100 Marshall 8 inch practice amp and the cleans blow a way a lot of $1k amps… at bedroom volume.
How does this one sound clean, Doty, quiet and loud?
I’d honestly be happy if the people who are swayed away from Lemmy for that reason stayed away from Lemmy. I don’t at all agree with the developer there and anyone who posts that kind of thing is gross. But anyone sensitive enough to take that as a reason to stay away from Lemmy is super annoying and I’m happy they aren’t here.
I was actually ok with paying them $50 a year for ad-free before they started de-modding people for protesting. Now they can go fuck themselves. I am sympathetic to their need to be profitable. But effectively taking over subreddits is totally unacceptable and Reddit is no longer Reddit.
That was the last straw for me. I was considering buying premium so I could see Reddit ad-free without Apollo. I’m not totally unsympathetic to the reality that the user-bubble has burst and Reddit wants to make a profit. But giving money to a company run by spez felt bad. And if they actually go through with this plan then it won’t be Reddit anymore. At least not in the ways that matter to me. Now there’s no chance I’m going back.
It’s called “differently sanitied”, you monster!
