Yeah ok the wording was a bit blase and Im new to the group so Ill take the burn…but Im working for free on a community group website. Im aware that there are great communities out there doing amazing work on Opensource projects. I like to find them use and learn about them and then contribute however I can. (e.g Very keen Openstreetmaper) I was just feeling lost when i kept finding sites that said open source but then had PRO versions.

(Well this is how I would do it on other CMS systems. ) So I am going to see if I can figure out how to do this for PDF documents … lets see if I retain enough focus to do it and what results I get.
Are you looking to provide this as an ActivityPub feed or just on the site? Im fairly new to Wordpress (Background in other CMSs) but getting into creating different type of posts and lists of posts based on categories.

In New Zealand / UK / Spain the network company provides the cables and connections to consumers and retailers/generators who all pay to connect then customers buy their electricity from the chosen retailers - The network companies are relatively large regional operations that are eithe private for profit of trusts (as opposed to coops) all are regulated for a return on capital invested.
With rooftop solar how does the network provider get on balancing demand ? I guess your provider buys electricity at night and sells during the day?

Be aware of the risks of hosting your websites publicly from home, make sure to run them in very isolated environments. Having your VPS compromised is bad, but having your home network compromised is much worse!

Yes I use no-ip but have to confirm the domain name every month or so and cant use my own domain on the free tier. (Maybe im just being cheap) - Also I haven’t been able to figure out how I would use / get SSL certificates.

Id like to go beyond personal self hosting stuff and maybe run some stuff that requires Federation. Im just thinking at the moment.

I guess it depends if you want to put edge compute in each room. os just audio freeds to something central. But long term I’d avoid anything that uses any propriety service.
My two cents : Id make sure anything you got was based on Bluetooth audio and had a microphone. Then what ever you link them together with software wise doesn’t matter. You could put them together and run HomeAssistant or Openvoiceos for interaction or just have a media player running somewhere that feeds each room.

The thing I like about mapcomplete is the ability to add photos and reviews for Bars and restaurants. that’s really good.
I find each application has its niche and I switch between them depending whether Im walking around or filling.in details.
Yeah … I am nothing that many plugins i looked at had source code available bit then when I looked further it was for the basic version while they offered a.pro version which was paid.
I guess in these situations you need to dig into the licencing to find out where you stand.
Perhaps also I am just too new to Wordpress to know the popular open source addons
