  • What a strange story. First, they call the middle of Lidl infamous, not famous. What’s infamous about it?

Second, they do a mass product recall because of one complaint? They claim the product has had stringent testing and has sold for years in Europe without issue, but they recall it due to one complaint?

If the complaint is legitimate, then this is a good thing, but I just can’t wrap my head around their claim of stringent testing and crumbling at the merest mention of an issue. I also don’t understand what the issue with the igloos really is, they appear no less dangerous than a fence or hedge

  • Fuck the owners, grow food, grow community.

GrowVeg on YouTube is a great resource, but there’s hundreds, thousands, of people teaching gardening all over the place.

Don’t have a boring patch of grass in your garden that does nothing for you, for biodiversity, or for your community. That’s what the aristocracy did to show off how much land they have and how rich they are that it doesn’t even need to be productive. We don’t need that arrogance.

Grow carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, onions, cabbage, you’d be surprised how many varieties there are that you would think don’t exist looking in the supermarkets.

    Be punk, grow food.

  • I generally play on difficulty 6. It felt the right balance of difficulty, sample rewards, and enjoyment, for me.

I’ve been playing since release, so I’m a pretty high level now, and difficulty 6 was just starting to feel a bit too easy, and I was considering bumping up to level 7 as my standard difficulty.

Then this update came out, and I’m lucky to make it out of a level 6 alive! It’s very teammate dependent and I find the quality of teammates has significantly degraded. That could be due to a higher percentage of school kids playing vs adults I guess, as it’s the summer holidays, but it doesn’t make it any less annoying.

Basically, people need to communicate more and remember it’s a coop game. Ping the Bile Titans, Chargers, Impalers, there’s others on the team that can help. Tagging where you’re going on the map helps everyone coordinate. Microphones are not required, I use mine only when an in-game communication method isn’t available or I’m being swarmed but still need to say something, probably about once every two games.

I don’t enjoy the missions as much as I did before the update, and I think a lot of the blame rests on Arrowhead’s shoulders but the user-base also needs to step up and learn to cooperate more in this cooperative game. Don’t one-man-army a bile titan, don’t ignore teammates that have found a bunker door, work together to increase your odds of survival, success, super credits, samples, and ultimately, fun.

    Old man rant over

That would be a literal nightmare. Fucking about with MOT, tax, servicing, insurance, and repairs for a car is bad enough. Having to do the same for a bike would be infuriating. Another faucet to drain money from you as well.

“Install one of our black box trackers today for 50% off your insurance! Ignore that we can track all your movements, even down to the smallest of accelerations, so we can build a profile on you, charge you more in future because we deem your riding style unsafe despite you having no incidents, and for an extra bit of dosh we’ll sell your movements to advertisers so they can better try to extract even more money from you. What have you got to lose? Sign up today!”

  • It’s not about offending. It’s about stereotyping and prejudging people.

It’s very easy to go from Russia/ Israel does bad things so the Russians/ Israelis aren’t welcome, to xenophobic hatred of all Russians/ Israelis.

It’s a fine line to balance because obviously, being Russian/ Israeli associates you with the actions of your country, and a certain percentage of the population in those countries will agree with their government’s policies. But not all of them do, and to make general sweeping statements like none are welcome leads you close to the xenophobia that those opposed to Russia/ Israel tend to condemn.

In WW2 America rounded up and imprisoned loads of Japanese-Americans, regardless of whether they supported Japan or had any evidence of them aiding Japan. This has generally been viewed as a bad thing done to innocent people. Rhetoric like this could lead to a similar situation.

People are people. Some good, some bad. Some perform shitty actions on purpose, some perform shitty actions through ignorance, and some oppose shitty actions. But where someone is born doesn’t determine if they’re shitty or not, so sweeping statements like “Israelis are not welcome” gets far too close to xenophobia for some people’s liking.

Obviously, what Russia and Israel are doing is awful and must be condemned, but a bit of casual xenophobia isn’t going to do anything to stop them. Official blocks of official teams would do far more to hinder them and their image of acceptance in the international community than blocking their citizens from spectating.
