Couple of reasons in my experience. Cigarettes have a generous butt, and are pretty structurally sound, which makes them pretty easy to handle that way, and you can ash with a simple flick of your thumb. Joints often have no butt, or just some folded up but of paper or some other dodgy bullshit, so there’s far less to grab onto. They’re also often pretty flimsy, and fall apart easily. So holding them that way gives you better control and is more gentle on the joint.

I’m absolutely disgusted that we’ve announced we’re just going to grab our ankles and back up for this. Similarly with Canada backing down on its electricity tariffs. All these world leaders bowing and grovelling at the feet of this imbecilic dictator are just validating him and it’s only going to make him worse, which in turn makes everything worse. The rest of the world needs to unite and stand firm against trump.

Or, another idea - we stop subsidising private schools and only give public money to public schools? I don’t think the private school down the road really needs a fifth auditorium while the kids at the public school are sitting in the library for science class because there’s literally nobody to teach it. Current democrats? Fuck almost all of those guys. But a populist, ground up movement would have an easier time taking over the existing infrastructure of the party than starting a new party from scratch. I think that should be the goal.
