  • Yeah I think cocaine, heroine and meth are not to be messed with, I my view they’re bad for you. I think ecstasy is on another level. Where I live it’s the most commonly used hard drugs and I think most people use it in a healthy manner. That is to say a few times per year max, they go to a festival, they dance their asses off and they share a hug. The problem with ecstasy is that it can be a gateway drugs. It gives such an incredible feeling of happiness that people will want to relive it the next weekend, but that will never work. If you can manage to not give in to that and just wait a few months, then all is well. But if you give in and go again next week, you won’t reach the same heights. People will suggest you take other stuff to help overcome this, designer drugs, speed, cocaine, etc. and then things go downhill. I think ecstasy in itself, with moderation, is not an unhealthy thing to do. I think it has clear psychological benefits to use it occasionally.

  • Nobody? You really want to speak in absolutes here? I wasn’t just talking about cocaine. I also think cocaine is not a good drug to use, too expensive, too addictive, and not a very helpful experience, just a form of hedonism that in the end is not rewarding. But let’s talk about shrooms. I started shrooms on a small dosis to discover my response, if I had a predisposition to psychosis I would have backed of then, but I discovered it was a very healing experience for me. So I became a regular user, I eat shrooms once a month. I lay in my bed, I reflect upon my life and my experiences. I work in a psychiatric hospital and have to deal with a lot of intense stuff, suicide, aggression, etc. The regular consumption of shrooms helps me deal with these things in a proper way. I reflect on what happened and process semi-traumatic experiences that come with the job. It also helps me empathize and reflect on why patients behave the way that they do. It’s also just a lot of fun and increases my creativity. Now tell me, how am I hurting anyone?

  • Afaik only cannabis and alcohol are considered soft drugs. Cannabis actually has quite a few people addicted to it. Alcohol does an incredible amount of harm to health and society. Take a look at shrooms, which are usually considered hard-drugs: no-one is addicted to it, it’s not bad for your health, it’s actually a very healing experience and is being considered more and more as a proper treatment for psychological problems. Shrooms are usually consumed very responsibly, there are of course always some idiots who don’t know what they are doing. Still they’re considered hard drugs and conservative minded people often don’t want to hear about legalization, without any rational argument.

  • I generally don’t believe in intellectual property, I think it creates artificial scarcity and limits creativity. Of course the real tragedies in this field have to do with medicine and other serious business. But still, artists claiming ownership of their style of painting is fundamentally no different. Why can’t I paint in your style? Do you really own it? Are you suggesting you didn’t base your idea mostly on the work of others, and no one in turn can take your idea, be inspired by it and do with it as they please? Do my means have to be a pencil, why can’t my means be a computer, why not an algorythm? Limitations, limitations, limitations. We need to reform our system and make the public domain the standard for ideas (in all their forms). Society doesn’t treat artists properly, I am well aware of that. Generally creative minds are often troubled because they fall outside norms. There are many tragic examples. Also money-wise many artists don’t get enough credit for their contributions to society, but making every idea a restricted area is not the solution. People should support the artists they like on a voluntary basis. Pirate the album but go to concerts, pirate the artwork but donate to the artist. And if that doesn’t make you enough money, that’s very unfortunate. But make no mistake: that’s how almost all artists live. Only the top 0.something% actually make enough money by selling their work, and that’s is usually the percentile that’s best at marketing their arts, in other words: it’s usually the industry. The others already depend upon donations or other sources of income. We can surely keep art alive, while still removing all these artificial limitations, copying is, was and will never be in any way similar to stealing. Let freedom rule. • Intellectual property is a scam. A commonly heard defense of intellectual property is that it is needed for companies to fund their R&D. However pharmaceutical companies typically spent a lot more money on marketing & sales than they do on R&D. Big Pharma spending money on marketing and sales is harmful to our health. Apparently it’s a lot more lucrative to get people drugged up on painkillers or whatever than to discover new medicine. If we didn’t have intellectual property then we would have competition resulting in the lowest possible medicine prices. Companies would have no money for marketing so medicine would be judged on their actual properties, only the best would be given to patients, not the best marketed, but best health-wise. Companies would have no money for R&D either, but the government could fund R&D We shouldn’t blame the players, we created a system that produces these bad actors. Let’s change the system so that these bad actors couldn’t exist. Intellectual property is a international problem, join the pirate party of your country and let’s make it happen!

I’m using the Piped YT frontend on Firefox with uBlock and I’ve not once seen any add pop up. I don’t have a Google account but I added a bunch of rss-feeds to my Thunderbird, so I get a message when my favorite creators make a video. This way I’m not bothered by any stupid Google algorithm. Goes to show, YT is best consumed without an account.

I don’t agree, the best way would be to start using alternatives like lbry and/or peertube. These platforms are in a catch 22, creators won’t upload because there are no viewers, viewers won’t watch because there is little content. Every new viewer and/or creator on a YT-competitor has quite a big impact in the long run. This is a perfect moment in time to motivate people to boycot YT.

  • Yup, theirs guilt as well as innocence on either side. It’s simply hate spiraling out of control for generations. Hate in response to hate, in response to hate, in response to hate. Some say the solution is to hate on Palestinians for all sorts of reasons. Others say the solution is to hate on Israelis for all sorts of reasons. I think the hatred-solution has been tried out sufficiently now.

  • I’ve quit drinking coffee two weeks ago. I felt really numb for 8 days, and then I started to just feel normal again. Before I drank way too much coffee. Now I don’t know what to do, if I want to drink a little bit of tea every day or if I want to use caffeine just on an occasional basis trying to avoid any dependency. For now I’ll stick to 0 caffeine for a little longer and see how I feel. But I’d be curious to know other peoples experiences or advice.
