Open EVSE is the only open source charger I’ve heard about, but I haven’t used their products before.

Good thing Biden isn’t running anymore.
Having one EV and one ICE is a good way to start if you’re a two vehicle household.
Adoptaversary, also known as gotcha day!
That seems like a great opportunity for further discussion. Even small changes like having one night a week that is meatless can be beneficial, i.e. Meatless Mondays. A big moment of progress for my household was when my partner fell in love with a soy taco dish I started making.
This seems like the opposite of the “cuteness effect”. Meaning people are more likely to care about conservation for something cute (giraffes, cheetahs) than not (spiders, salamanders). In this case, octopus is a “weird” food, so there isn’t push back on banning farming them. Like you said, the exact same logic applies to pigs, so why stop there?
Better than nothing, I suppose.
NFIP insurance is pretty limited, I think $250k structure and $100k contents. It also doesn’t cover things like additional living expenses, which would include a hotel while you’re displaced. It’s also often your only choice, though. It’s something that every home owner needs to consider for themselves based on the flood risk of their area.
The article says they’re “hair sheep” which shed and are often raised for their meat.
That was already done over fifty years ago through the national flood insurance program, NFIP.
PSA: If you are in a flood prone area, your lender may require you to purchase flood insurance. But did you know that some communities will argue against changes to the flood maps that would show them as being in a flood prone area? This means you may be at a higher risk for flooding than the federal maps would suggest. You can still buy flood insurance through the NFIP, though.
Here’s a “myths and facts about flood insurance” page from FEMA: https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20230425/fact-sheet-myths-and-facts-about-flood-insurance
I use the Fox Replace extension to replace all instances of slam with criticize. It’s great.
Isn’t paraphrasing/summarizing the top result a pretty good use case for LLMs? If I search “what temperature should I bake cupcakes at?” I really just want a simple answer, not dozens of links to life story style recipe blogs.
DDG didn’t provide a summary, but Google did (and it was very long). I assumed the answer was 350F, but the summary suggested 325-375. Lower for flatter cupcakes, higher for more domed. Interesting.
This type of summary wouldn’t be nearly as helpful for a technical programming question, but I doubt that describes the bulk of search queries.
I really wish the Quest wasn’t tied to Meta as much as it is. I get that’s probably why it’s so cheap, though.
The fact that users wanting a “feature complete” product at launch is seemingly news to them is absurd.
Astrologers fucking off would be a big enough positive to justify the profanity.
The weird grammar and punctuation is usually part of the shtick.
this day was especially bad and I desperately need the crutch, or especially nice and I feel like I wanna celebrate it somehow
This is food for so many families. Having a bad day? Let’s go get some dessert to make you feel better. A good day? Let’s celebrate with a big meal.
You could shut down locations entirely and use the rent savings to fund retraining programs for the affected staff and still come out ahead.
But look, he paints! Just like Bob Ross, so that means we can just forget about all that other stuff, right?
The main difference between the two to me is that the 9 pro is no longer larger than the regular version. Instead there’s now a 9 pro XL. Now you can have the better camera without trying to fit a mini tablet in your pocket. If you’re staying with the non pro version, most of the recent pixel models are very similar.
I somehow missed that people were hoarding tp again. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I went to buy some and found nearly the entire aisle bare. Luckily there was plenty of the store brand, so I guess people were panick buying but not panicked enough to consider a different brand.
