Honestly, if I was him. I would be considering massively extreme options.

Perhaps he should address the nation and say this:

“I believe the Supreme Court has made a grievous error that threatens the Constitution, our Republic, and the freedom of the American people. They have bestowed the Presidency with powers that it should not have - powers that I as President should not have and do not want. Powers that will surely lead to our destruction.

A President is not a king. According to the Supreme Court however, I am effectively your king at this time. Based on their new law, I can in this moment, if I choose, order the execution of not just Donald Trump but every Republican in Congress. According to the Supreme Court, I can never be charged or prosecuted for these acts. The next President could order the execution of me and my family. They could execute you and your family and there would be no accountability for doing so. The next President can ensure that we never have an open and fair election again. These are not exaggerations.

It is clear that the Supreme Court intended these unprecedented legal protections to shield Donald Trump. However, as President, these powers now rest with me.

As sworn defender of the Constitution, I have taken action tonight to right this wrong and to provide a small demonstration to the American people of just how destructive these new powers are and why we can never allow the Presidency to become above the law.

As we speak, all nine Supreme Court Justices and their families have been detained and will be held without trial at an undisclosed location. Donald Trump and his family have also been detained.

The issue of Presidential Immunity will be put before the Supreme Court when they meet again on November 4th. If they find that, in fact, President’s are not above the law and do not have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution, everyone will be released. Their future, and ours, is now in their hands.

I do not believe he was attempting to blame anybody though. In my view, he is warning us ( well, Americans — I am not one ). He is saying that there is one chance to defend the future and, if you do not take it, you may be denied another opportunity.

Not only in the US either. This could topple the whole world order.

Wind seems like a great complement to existing hydro capacity. Wind is a clean and renewable energy source which can provide considerable amounts of power. The problem of course is what happens when the wind does not blow. It is also possible to generate more than you need sometimes even when you struggle to meet demand at other times. Wind is inconsistent. It is hard to map capacity to demand.

The environmental damage of hydro is putting it in place to begin with. Once the dams are built is is pretty clean. Hydro can provide consistent power at any time. The concern with hydro is that, as you use it, the reservoirs go down. If you use it continuously, the water levels can drop faster than they are being replenished eventually leading to a problem. So, the problem with hydro is that it offers only so much total power before more dams have to be built ( which creates significant environmental damage ). You cannot really have too much capacity with hydro as you just let the water flow if the reservoirs are full.

If you are generating lots of wind power, you need less hydro and the reservoirs fill up. They act like a battery. If the wind power drops, you can ramp up the hydro until the wind comes back.

Together, hydro and wind create an electrical power system with significant capacity, consistent availability, and the ability to service spikes in demand while remaining green and renewable. Add as much wind as you need to create overall capacity. Use the hydro to smoothly match power delivery with demand.

Your biggest problem is going to be the 4 GB of RAM. Saving a few hundred megs on the DE will help but not much. If you run a web browser ( and I cannot imagine using a computer without one ) that RAM is going to fill up fast.

Honestly, I would use a 32 bit distro on that hardware.

Q4OS with Trinity, Antix, Adelie, and DSL are all pretty decent options.

If you don’t need a full desktop environment, check-out IceWM.

I recently checked-out Trinity ( essentially KDE 3 modernized ) and was surprised how decent it was. I used it in Q4OS but it may be available in your distro.

Many distros customize the colour schemes and theming of their desktops. The out-of-the-box XFCE in EOS looks nothing at all like vanilla XFCE for example.

They did not miss anything. They just used commas where periods should be.

You can run a command using run0. It’s only elevating that command. Sometimes it’s needed to login as root. It’s life.

The way it is written, semi-colons may be more appropriate but that would be a lot of them.

That said, on the one hand we have a guy that trivial research reveals has been dramatically transparent about his own life, struggles, and frailty in a really humble and disarming way. He shares his talent freely not only with code but mentorship and teaching. He has created a thriving and closer-knit community working together to do interesting and valuable things ( OS and browser ). His somewhat famous tagline is “well, hello friends”. He has also showcased both his wife and other females on his channel. Unless I misunderstand the term “incel”, you are demonstrably and factually wrong on that front at least. The biggest complaint I could find about him elsewhere is that his is “too neutral”. Perhaps that is at play here.

On the other hand, we have somebody directly peddling destruction, slander, and hate ( you ). And why? As far as I can tell, the only contribution the SerenityOS founder has made to this “discussion” is the sentence “This project is not an appropriate arena to advertise your personal politics.”. Is that really it? Overreaction?

That sentence spawned all of this? I must have misunderstood which of you we were labelling as “reactionary”.

Regardless of if the project should have accepted the commit or not ( a valid debate ), I cannot possibly side with this reaction. It is awful.

For anybody else with the same question…

The Ladybird browser started as a part of the SerenityOS Project. SerenityOS had adopted Ladybug imagery before the browser was conceived. “Ladybird” seemed like a perfectly reasonable name for a core component of the OS given its existing iconography.

It was ( and is ) as good name in context.

Ladybird has decided to split with its SerenityOS roots. I have pretty mixed feelings on that. Regardless, it would be silly to change the name at this point.

The same history applies to C++. SerenityOS is written in C++. Until the split, the OS and browser were maintained in a mono repo with extremely deep code integration and coordination. They share the same custom C++ standard library and coding conventions for example.

SerenityOS was started as a very personal project and the original author is ( or was ) a fan of C++. While I am personally not a fan, it seems like a perfectly reasonable language choice to write an OS in.

They do not need early adopters yet. They know it is too early. It makes sense to focus on progress. Outreach can happen later when they are more technically ready.

This is an interesting post. I know the YouTuber you are talking about. I do not really like him but I would have considered him harmless. It is interesting to get your take.

Mint is great and quite popular. So, if you are going to make a YouTube video saying otherwise, I guess you have to go out of your way to come up with reasons why. I am sure that makes it sound worse than it is. Something to think about.

I have distro preferences too but most of the differences really only make a difference to those already using Linux. It is a bit like arguing about Ford vs Chevy in front of people that have never seen a car ( or truck ). In the grand scheme, they are both amazing and mostly the same thing. To listen to a fan though, one is God’s gift and the other is trash. Same with Linux distros.
