Cop: Do you know why I’m standing here?
Sarah: Because you got all C’s in high school?
I’ve had PSUs with odd issues that still worked for the most part, but when I tested them (with my tester) they reflected a weak voltage on one segment or some other failure. But it would still sorta work. These testers do work.
Mine is very similar to the one in this Corsair PSU testing guide. I think it was $15.
Nah, this is not really a tech support community, but whatever. (Unless it is a tech support community? I always thought pcmasterrace was supposed to be a hair on the sarcastic side.)
I just came from the “Is my PSU broken?” thread here. This sub is supposed to be like the reddit sub, but honestly whatever gets posted here is fine with me. As long as it is PC related. I just like seeing something…anything…posted. I am not going back to the other place and want it to work here.
I am more than happy to help with tech support here as well as read snarky sarcastic PCMR material if it happens to show up. We just have a lack of it atm.
They sell PSU testers for $15-20. I bought one years ago and it still serves me well. You plug in the 24-pin and the other power connectors and it will tell you where it’s faults lie. If none, then the motherboard should be scrutinized next.
Capacitors exist all over your system. They are on nearly every component. Look for them and then look for the bulge out the top. There are reliefs (a big X) in the top of the capacitor to allow it to “blow” out that direction. Sometimes it only bulges and does not blow, but that’s enough for failure. If you open your PSU, try not to root around too much with your fingers. Be cautious of the power load that might remain. Visually inspect the caps. It might only be a slight bulge or none at all, but the caps can still die.
I’d lend you a PSU, so maybe you have a friend close who might too? You may still consider buying a new PSU to allow for future upgrades and put the old one on the shelf as a spare or for other purposes. That is, if the PSU is fine. It is still possible the motherboard is at fault, but again with these symptoms, it would likely be a cap.
Good luck!
After spending thousands on NFL-ST over the years, (assuming it isn’t overturned on appeal) I cannot wait for my coupon entitling me to one small soda and half a hotdog with my nearest stadium.*

I think that is what stembolts is saying. Awareness is borne from knowledge and critical thinking.
Incineration toilets are more common in remote facilities where disposal of excrement can pose contamination risks. That’s how I learnt of them by watching documentaries.
By OSHA, you mean Lemmy right?
Then yes, OSHA was contacted.
I used to have this group of friends that were pretty savvy on finances and negotiations. For fun and sport, they would go to auto dealers and pretend to be interested in a car they had zero intentions of buying. All to hook and reel in the salesman and then decide “no” at the last second and walk off the lot.
I mean, the idea is humorous and I dislike most auto salesmen too, but I have better things to do.
I’ve owned a 50’s Surburban. This ain’t that.
Agreed! I’m just off the heels of the calf/electric fence crib too. Two bangers today.
It is merely the absurdity of the situation. Cow parents raising their calf to be accustomed to the electric fence just as they are thereby training it to be a proper cow. Just silly. Far Side hits like that for me. Sometimes the absurdity resonates and sometimes it does not. Even for me and I love it. Probably because most of them resonate for me. I love absurd humor. My paltry explanation likely won’t make it any funnier for you, but hopefully it helps you understand why I find it funny.
This one made me laugh. Out loud even. Thank you!
Really? Which episode? It’s been a few years…and were they making a movie…? Yes, they did. I went and looked on imdb. I’ll need to see that.
Such a great show!
Many years ago, we had a troubled employee leave work very mad. He was quite furious with his computer and went home for his revolver unbeknownst to us. He came back to work with it and unloaded all six rounds into the system. Each round went through the case and each one missed the drive/motherboard/videocard. So, the system was still working despite the abrupt extra cooling holes. This further incensed him and he went away even madder, but this time in cuffs.
