  • On Monday, prominent Democrats including the Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren demanded an investigation of possible criminal corruption involving Starlink, citing “the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision to cancel a $2.4bn contract with Verizon to upgrade air traffic control communications, and to pay … Musk’s Starlink to help manage US airspace”.

The SpaceX and Tesla billionaire denies conflicts of interest. Trump has said if conflicts are found, they will be addressed.

That’s like the fox promising to make sure the henhouse is safe.

I don’t know how there could not be a conflict of interest.

  • Morning:

    • Snooze my alarm at least 3 times.
    • Finally wake up, check for notifications and end up scrolling for 15 minutes.
    • try to get out of bed but instead snuggle my dog for as long as possible or until she needs to be let outside.
    • drink whatever water I have leftover on my bedside table
    • get up finally, pee, brush my teeth, wash my face, put on deodorant, do my hair & get dressed
    • make a coffee
    • leave for work. (If I don’t work, skip steps one and two, and postpone some of step 4 for later)

    Evening:

    • pour a glass of water for the middle of the night when I get thirsty.
    • let the dog out to pee.
    • go pee, brush my teeth, wash my face, get undressed.
    • grab a handful of kibbles and give my dog brushes while giving her snacks.
    • put in lip balm and hand lotion.
    • play all the wordle games before midnight
    • scroll for a while until I decide I’m tired.
    • turn off the light.
    • put on an audiobook for 15 minutes and hope I’m asleep before then.

  • We’ve become a society of instant gratification, to the point where having to wait a week for an online delivery feels like a hardship!

I dont know the solution either. As individuals we can try to not chose the “easy” over the “good”, allow ourselves a little bit of discomfort for the better good. Learn to live a little bit slower. I don’t know how to translate that to a whole society.

Just my $0.02 to add, I guess.

  • I haven’t watched any movies on GEM yet (my smart tv is too old and doesn’t support it) but scrolling through to see what’s available, it looks like there’s lots of good stuff!

Here’s a few I’ve watched in the past.

    • ROOM(based on the book by Emma Donoghue) heart wrenching. Definitely some trigger warnings but very good. Highly recommend the book too
    • Snowpiercer (based on a Graphic Novel) post apocalyptic dark and twisty sci-fi. The tv show is better imo, but the movie is still good.
    • The Holiday classic early 2000s feel good rom-com
    • Atanarjuat: the Fast Runner. The first movie to be completely written, acted, directed in the Inuktitut language, and
    • Napoleon Dynamite I think you could call it a cult classic, and definitely hugely influential at the time.
    • The Grand Budapest Hotel Wes Anderson, what more need I say.

  • I absolutely adore Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

As an aside, I tried so hard to read Crime and Punishment(twice), but I don’t think I ever finished it. Or if I did I can’t remember the ending. Maybe I had a bad translation, or maybe I have a short attention span, I don’t know…

(Sorry for the edit, I hit send before I was done typing)
