The excuse being that Hunt had far too much involvement in the last 14 years and that’s exactly what the electorate doesn’t want.

“Everything I don’t like is fascist”.
He’s not a fascist. Seriously. Not even close. If real fascism ever made a return here, no one would be able to recognise it because they’ve spent years calling everything fascist.
The National Rally in France have all the hallmarks of fascism, with the rhetoric on immigration, their dirigiste economic plans etc, and Farage has recently criticised them openly and said they would be a disaster for France.
So that means he’s far right? 😂
He’s just a right-wing populist. The BNP, English Democrats, EDL etc are far-right.
Are people really still going with the “smeared for anti-semitism” line?
I don’t suspect Corbyn himself is anti-Semitic, but he sure had a lot of people he called “friends” who were. He also sat back and did nothing about abuse to Jewish colleagues in the Labour Party.
The idea that it was all a “smear campaign” is laughable.
“Far right”. Lol.
It’s crazy how it’s an almost Blair-style majority, and yet if you look at the numbers it’s more of a Conservative loss than a Labour win.
Standard FPTP things, I guess.
Sadly, he’s a complete chancer and opportunist, so he’ll creep his way back somewhere no doubt.
I loved Neil Kinnock’s reaction on the BBC last night when the news came in of Galloway losing in Rochdale.
We send hardly anything to Israel.
The only country in the world that has any influence is the US.
Pro-Gaza candidates actually winning seats in a country that can do nothing but give warm words for the conflict. What are they going to do to improve the lives of their actual constituents?
Insanity.
The Lib Dems got so excited about being granted a referendum that they forgot to take it seriously.
AV was a terrible system and arguably worse than FPTP. It’s a more complicated system for people to vote in, and would potentially lead to even more disproportionate results.
And the depressing thing is that it will never change because the only parties with the power to change it benefit from the current system.
Split vote with cranks like Webbe and Vaz.
Yeah, the Conservative Party are actually far closer to the US Democrats, largely because American politics swings much further to the right.
It’s amazing how people pontificate and say things with such certainty when they clearly don’t pay any attention to the reality.
Yes? There have been 20 candidates for the Green Party who were investigated for anti-semitism.
Let’s not pretend that cranks only exist in Reform UK.
Hysterical nonsense, but I expect nothing less from Lemmy.
Yes. UKIP now are far-right (hence why you don’t hear of them anymore), but they were just a plain old Thatcherite right-wing party under Farage.
Not necessarily. Obviously the majority of the seats are going to Labour. Those are the voters they need to win back. They’re not going to do that by appealing to Reform voters.
Reform are right-wing, but they’re not far-right anymore than Jeremy Corbyn was apparently far-left.
Reform will get more because they came third in the vote share.
