You can restructure society to not require profit. The economy exists currently purely to increase consumption and thus profit, rather than to fulfill uses.

Producing party favors and other mindless bullshit, no matter how “ethically sourced,” is still consumerism at the expense of the environment. Bottled water is another great example.

Capitalism is antithetical to sustainability, and has to be wrangled into a sustainable position soon or the climate disaster will become even worse than it already will be.
