  • When somebody says something like that, I bring up ancient Greeks rubbing amber on cat fur to investigate static electricity. It would have been very easy 2500 years ago to complain about these idiots rubbing cats with rods while there were bigger issues to solve. It’s not like they could say “hold on bro there’s this sick thing called the internet and this is step 1 to invent it!”. But we’re all glad people like that persevered or we’d never have electricity. In fact our word for electricity comes from the greek word for amber, elektron. Learning something new about the world is always worthwhile, even if you don’t know why just yet

  • A lot of these are anger or high energy. What about when you’re hungover and it’s early in the morning? I went to a metal festival once and was woken up by Skindred - Nobody at about 8am. I don’t want metal in the morning! I want something safe and slow. Give me Journey or Snow Patrol.

  • No I’m from UK so it’s AC. Yeah if you had neutral on the other end of the swamp you’d be getting closer but still doubt you’d get to electrocution levels. That’s how the electric barrier in the great lakes works that the guy was on about. But that’s a short distance, with the water surrounded by rock, and it only gets about 2 volts. For a swamp I would expect too much current to be leaking into the earth and nowhere near enough current to be flowing through the people. Judging by the downvotes I guess I’m wrong and the Iraqi army have some insanely powerful swamp electrifying device that’s completely undocumented and was only used once and has never been repeated since.

Anyway I’m out of this argument, don’t drag me back in!
