Honestly that’s a lot of windows users. I have to deal with it at work because we are ‘a microsoft shop’. Ughh. I am in a relationship that I cannot get out of, sort of an arranged marriage. Retirement can’t come soon enough.

And I read that as ‘challenging circumcision.’
Will make all the files in the path owned by you. Be careful if you have more complex permissions on there they will be lost.
This is where ACL permissions would help. He could give his new id ACL permissions to the files and that wouldn’t mess with the current permissions.
From the root/beginning subdir: sudo setfacl -R -m u:{replace with your new id}:rwx .
This is what I hear… Moon-gravity savings time brought to you by Carls Jr.
If Linux cannot help me do them then in what way is it a widely suitable mass operating system as proponents are constantly claiming instead of merely a hobby tool that can do a very limited range of things.
Not sure what you mean by this as I have used tons of linux machines to earn a living for the last 20 years or more. Just because you haven’t delved into it doesn’t mean it is just a hobby tool. No offense, but if that is your attitude towards this then it might be best to not switch. Things might not always be up to par with what you are used to, but I have seen some pretty cringy things go on in current mainstream windows. Try having an issue with onedrive and asking the team supporting it to help. First step is to reboot. If that doesn’t work they uninstall then reinstall. If that doesn’t work, well then I guess you are out of luck. When I asked them about anything in the log files, all I got was blanks stares. My point is, windows isn’t some pristine environment with no flaws that we should all strive to reach, it has it’s own issues.
For instance, your Notepad++ question. I know you don’t want to use multiple tools to replace it, but I would venture to guess that the work I do daily, I would probably come up with solutions using vi, sed, and awk on the command line just as fast as you could using the gui. The thing is, I have been doing it for so long it’s just second nature to me. Would I want to switch to Notepad++, no.
Maybe come up with some examples of what you do in Notepad++ and people can give you alternative solutions.
Well I am not him, so I can’t tell you whether or not he actually “could” have figured it out. The options to figure it out did exist, but he chose not to use them giving it the appearance that he “couldn’t”. Are you this much fun at parties?
And they are doing the exact same thing with Edge that they were taken to court for over Windows Explorer. They have been and always will be a shit company.
Yup. Got locked out myself since I only play on a linux machine. Yeah rockstar you can fuck right off.
I guess it depends on where you work. This was a large datacenter for a very large health insurance company. They made it a point later that day to remind people that it was a fireable offense to mess with production machines like that on purpose. And evidently the service he disabled was critical enough that it didn’t take long for the hammer to come down. There were plenty of ways to find out who owned the machine, he just chose the easiest and got fired on the spot for it.
My distro had an update for cups, so I am guessing people are already on this. Pop Os is what I just loaded on this machine.
A guy in our data center couldn’t figure out who owned a particular machine that he needed to work on. So his solution to figure it out was to let them come to him. He went and pulled out the network cable and waited. He was escorted out a little while later. The moral of the story is don’t go disabling production machines on purpose.
Maybe you should have phrased it “that showed” instead. That would have made it a little clearer.
Huh? They are all wearing harnesses and the middle guy is where you can see they are clipped in.

One thing here bisby left off. If you check the villager and they are selling Mending books, don’t break the lectern. Find a new villager. :) Also, I have had some luck finding silk touch pickaxes in things like sunken ship chests, or buried treasure chests. You can also try fishing one up, but you better like fishing. It’s my happy place, so I have fished up a lot of them over the years over thousands of hours just fishing. It relaxes me for some reason.
Not going to hold my breath after getting a ‘fuck you very much’ reply from their tech support.
I totally get where you are coming from and hope I didn’t come across as a dick. Going back to the example of my daughter, I would be equally terrified of her getting any size displacement bike if she can’t get her temper in check, and I hope that switch from passenger to driver on a motorcycle would give her the focus to mentally chill out. To your point, kids get these large displacement bikes and then decide that they are not only invincible, but the baddest thing on the planet and end up learning the hard way that they are neither of those two, and large displacement bikes are like magnets to that personality. I completely agree with you too, if you can get the 600cc bike and be responsible, then eventually when you feel like it’s not a danger, move up to something larger. All good advice and replies here.
So the deciding factor in my opinion becomes, how mature are you on a bike? Do you give in easily to the show off mentality, or are you hot tempered? If you can keep things on an even keel and not get out of control then either one would be fine. The problem I have with comments from the person above is that it makes it sound like you are safer on the 600cc bike, and believe me, you can kill yourself just as easily on either bike. My daughter wants to buy a bike, and she has been on the back of my bike(s) for thousand upon thousands of miles, so she knows how it feels and what to expect, but I had a very frank discussion with her that she cannot get on a bike and ride it like she currently drives. She gets a little road rage at times, and that really isn’t going to work on a motorcycle, assuming you want to be an old rider. I guess my whole point of this ted talk is that if and only if you feel like you are responsible enough (good word that Fecundpossum used) then get the one that you like and speaks to you. Just remember that you don’t have to run full throttle, there is a middle ground.
Not sure what it runs natively, but I just set out to use a rpi to replace a machine I moved to another room. Just need it to run a browser and at most watch youtube videos. My rpi2 definitely wasn’t up to the task, so I went to a rpi 3b and unfortunately it isn’t up to the task either as the browser quickly chewed up all 1gb of ram and then used the 1gb of swap to where it came to a grinding halt even trying to open youtube. Plugged in a rpi4 with 8gb of ram and it seems to be doing the job. I have a rpi4 with 4gb, but didn’t even bother trying it. Resolution didn’t seem to be the issue for me, it was space, and possibly sd card speed, but I wasn’t going to fiddle with it too much. The rpi4 is working good and I am typing this reply on it.
