Death Stranding. One of my top games of all time. Atmosphere, gameplay, music, Kojima wackiness. It’s loosely in the “transportation” category of games, but it’s not quite a trucking sim, not quite a walking sim, it is story driven, it’s at least half survival-horror, there’s some stealth-action in there. It’s single player and also kinda multiplayer. We laughed at Kojima when he called it a “strand-type game” but it really is a wholly unique experience. The absolute closest you can come to another game like it is Snowrunner, but that isn’t story driven, you never leave your trucks, there are no enemies, etc.

It is very much still a thing and the contracts still exist in some form, specifically phone financing and locking. If you finance a cellphone from Tmobile, it will be locked to Tmobile until you’ve paid for the phone in full, which is usually over two years of payments. This is why carriers offer deals on phones purchased through them, and have those upgrade-every-year type plans. The contract has just switched from the phone service, to the phone itself. This is also why if you walk into any carrier’s store, they’ll try and convince you to trade in your perfectly good paid-for device for the next years model with a decent trade in value, but only if you finance the new phone.

Ublock is not network level ad blocking.

That will only go so far unfortunately. And network level ad blocking won’t protect you from their ads if they’re served from the same servers the content is.

I have a similar setup and I just have the reverse proxy on the VPS. It then proxies back to the home server on whatever port the service is on. And yes you can forward the original client IP if you wish.

And the best possible outcome is they contact you and buy it for some much larger amount than you paid for it.

I wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole. Squatting on domains that contain a trademark with the purpose of forcing a company to pay you out for it is illegal. There would need to be intent, but just going to court over something like that would NOT be worth it.

I had a similar thing happen where my last name was also part of a trademark for a huge institution. As soon as I registered a domain with the name in it, I got an email from their legal department demanding I forfeit the domain to them or they would take legal action.

I replied that the domain was my surname, and that it wasn’t being used commercially at all, much less in the industry they’re in, and I actually got an email back saying they’d back off as long as I didn’t try to pull any funny business.

Put me in the both camp. They’re fundamentally different experience and there are different games that I prefer to have on PS5 and other on PC

The thing about Borderlands 1 and 2 is that their humor fit in very well for their time. They existed through the peak “lol so random” phase of internet humor. That exact same humor, executed with less subtlety, in 2020’s just does not fit in.

I’m really glad they used that low effort development time on Starfield. Maybe that games piss poor reception will shock someone into putting a little more effort into the next fallout.

Yeah guy 2 wants “attention” support but he doesn’t want a problem so that he can get attention support. He already has the problem and simply wishes he had support from others. He also doesn’t want to be a victim. He already feels like a victim of his circumstance. The support from others would make him feel less like a victim and more like somebody who has overcome adversity.

No dude, the first guy wants an easy answer to how shit he feels, because an easy answer means an easy solution. Generally speaking, people don’t like having problems that are entirely outside of their own power to fix.

The second person doesn’t want the deficiency, they already have it and have been struggling with it for a long time and what they wish for is love and support from people, to have their struggle validated.

It’s like the difference between a successful day of back breaking work when you’re a slave, vs a day of back breaking work when you’re working for your own benefit. The validation of the self-work comes from the benefits you reap because of it. There is no validation for the exact same work if you’re a slave, because you didn’t choose to do the work and you don’t benefit either. A little empathy and respect from your fellow man for the good work you did that you were forced to endure for no benefit to yourself would be the only solace you can hope to receive and isn’t really a whole lot to ask for grand scheme of things.

They likely use tools that do something similar on a larger scale. Less work for them that way.

In reality, white text on your resume that consists of a large number of relevant keywords, that will in fact have an impact on the software they’re using. Recruiters are actually starting to complain about it.

Sorta but also as bad as insurance is, if you have any and go to the ER, an ambulance ride and an ER visit are generally flat rate and not an absurd amount of money. It all goes downhill once you’re fully hospitalized.

This was me except it was narcolepsy. Which isn’t as fun because it’s incurable and also largely untreatable. Most medications and aids are supportive, not corrective.
