help-circle

  • On one hand I hate that reckless moves Trump is making and the terrible repercussions that they don’t give a shit about. On the other hand, American “help” often comes at ludicrous costs for those receiving it. It’s like all those “free” Apple computers given to classrooms, that also helped Apple become one of the most powerful corporations of all time.

America has praised capitalism as the ultimate good, money as the supreme truth and now the world gets to see the end result of people who follow this myopic gospel: a country ran by paid-off puppets by those who own it all.

  • I hope people don’t target allies. Brand loyalty and brand avoidance are just ways of convincing people that ethical consumption is the way to affect change. If that was true, America would be the number one recycler in the world, with the cleanest air and cleanest rivers. Letting people decide what is best with their wallets is a joke. Force these corporations to heel, we do not need to make good choices with our money, we need to use government agencies to remove all the terrible options.

And demonized. No country hates scientists more than America. The average American cherry picks their science and treat science that goes against their preconceived notions as conspiracies, but jump at the chance to defend their favorite corporations like you attacked family. It’s disgusting.

  • I think the biggest problem in this whole debacle is the utter opaqueness offered by China when trying to get to the source. Is this China’s fault? Well hold on. While this accident may have happened in China, China’s lax attitude toward safety precautions are an open secret. It’s much like the shady labor practices in, well China for one, that we turn a blind eye to. Why?Because it’s cheaper. So partly it is the unevenly applied and audited safety standards. If people are giving China research money, then those labs should be held to an international standard.

Arguing there is no evidence is extremely disingenuous when Chinese government hid most of it. One should be careful about saying “There is no evidence.” too confidently. At a certain point it sounds like an accomplishment and not a result.
