Yeah I automated it last week but figured I wouldn’t start the bot yet just in case someone wanted to pick up that mantle.

I’m not in favour of scanning the content of many to serve the few. YouTube urls are compatible with piped urls so you could simply copy/paste them and replace the urls if you prefer that (which I do).

That being said, you’re open to create a bot account yourself (and mark it as such in the account settings) and set up the bot. As long as there are no complaints, you’re free to do that.

I have a very long powered usb-c extension chord, a ton of audio cables and power running to a setup behind my desk.

Audio: All the audio cables go into a (normalled) patch bay. My most common gear I have normalled to my audio interface but if I want to replace it with something else as the number of inputs on the audio interface are limited.

Power: For power I have a big power splitter with multiple sections that have their own power switch allowing me to fully disconnect things.

USB: For USB I have a usb hub at the end of the usb c extender. It’s a powered hub as well to support connecting more things.

Ableton: I made presets for most of my instruments using tracks and the external instrument device. My electron gear runs through Overbridge (to save on audio interface ports as well as being able to save and recall presets from Ableton).

I think that’s about it, did I miss anything? I will probably share some pictures in next week’s thread since I hope it will be done presentable then.

Nevermind, looks like this was fixed in v0.18.1 because after upgrading it works fine.

I bought a bunch of cabling which I am expecting to be delivered next week. So I hope to set up my gear in such a way I can walk around any play whatever I want to play. All connected to Ableton.

This week I felt pretty under the weather so no real activities there.

I hadn’t considered additional displays until @risibledog@waveform.social and you mentioned solutions like that. Good idea and worth exploring.

For now I think I have settled on DMX as it is expandable in the future. I will just need to figure out the audio or midi to DMX situation. But that’s just software I can run on my DAW pc.

Eyesy looks interesting but the pricing like most things C&G seems off to me. I picked a DMX setup with 2 bright multi-channel LED bars which come out to around 280 bucks total so I think I will be going that route (and learning aother popular live performance tech).

Hm that’s actually not a bad idea. Initially I wanted to make it unauthenticated and just make a website where you can drop files.

The downside would be that only local users could upload audio and video as they would have to use waveform.social to do that.

My current philosophy with this community is to let it live and self-regulate. I only want to poke at it when things (start to) feel off.

So if threads federates properly and people make use of this functionality then I see no problem with that. So far I haven’t blocked any federation. The only blocks in place are technical ones to figure off some spam bots.

This way of thinking won’t scale properly, but my goals aren’t to create the next big social media platform. The goal is as stated in the tagline of this instance: a home for musically minded people. Anything that harms that goal will be dealt with, anything that supports that goal will be welcomed with open arms.

So only if it becomes a problem and people complain about this problem will I enforce a technical limitation.

Yeah but while I like the idea of dawless, after all this time (and money) spent on it I still don’t have any decent music. That’s all from 99% daw 😕 so I guess it’s just not for me.

I’ve been on the fence multiple times. It seams really appealing.

I recently joined a game development team that is in need of tons of different types of music. Level tracks, OST, action tunes.

Any tips on managing such a big project would be greatly appreciated. I haven’t done this before and am very much a hobbyist musician. I mainly use Ableton Live.
