I did that later but this laptop only supports SATA II speeds so it helped, but isn’t game changing like it would be on SATA III speeds

Is the A6 from 2017/18? Should be fine with anything. My wife’s laptop is from 2010/11. I tried all the DEs because of the lightness claims, I found GNOME worked the best, and it is super peppy running NixOS.
I asked online why GNOME would perform better than what is assumed a lighter DE, and a comouter dude says GNOME goes and gets everything it needs and caches it when you launch something so retrieval is faster in the app, KDE loads stuff on demand as it is asked for so a alow CPU and HDD hinderes KDE for me.
if you can afford it, by 4 more gigs of RAM
Its more so about returning to that point in time and the general feel, not that you just need the toy back. Same with retro computing, you can purchase an old C64 or Atari, but not the same without the wood paneling, ugly furniture, and ashtrays.
It was BristleBlocks for me in the UK. Is Sricklebricks the US namem?
Leap with Gnome. Really solid
They are only thinking of “Me” now, or “Me and my kids”, they will be dead when society collapses and they don’t care. But yes, the obscene amassed wealth is insanity, it means nothing to your lifestyle at some point. And will be useless at death.
Sorry, linux is boring now now.
I found that on OpenSUSE. Once getting past the learning curve of linux and OpenSUSE’s general use, It has updated flawlessly for years and there is never anything to tinker with.
Unfortunately they own Shaw now.
There are opensource versions, I tried a selfhosted chatgpt-like one, it wasn’t quite as good…you could still tell it was a computer responding…although technically it isn’t AI
Next up: how to cure sepsis with aroma therapy
All good points, thanks for presenting them. My kids did the sport and volunteer route too, two of them chose to work after graduating highschool, but the other two chose to start early one at 11 delivering papers and the other at 13. They were both open and would alert us if any exploitation was happening, but I recognize some kids may not have the skills. My one daughter found working very enjoyable, a sense of purpose and earning their own paycheck. Annecdotally it set her ahead in life, at 20 she had saved enough and was able to buy an apartment in metro Vancouver…if you know prices here you can see how that is a huge achievement, she still had time for school, friends, movies and sports. For myself I would find that too busy, but some people enjoy it.
From what I have heard/been told the “ignoring partner and sex 1-2 times a year” is a lot of marriages, so maybe your scenario wouldn’t change much
Oh, I know it happens in places, as forced labour, or poor families needing children to work. But I see it as a bonus if your are just a willing participant and paid the equivalent wages. And other countries people have gone into their tradeschool by 16. NA has a delayed entry into real life
Thats why i said ettiquette not culture on its own. The good parts you should so
I wondered the same, race was never a thing at our grade achool or highschool either in 80s or 90s. Like it never crossed our minds to think the brown/black kid, they were just kids, and some were the super popular kids. One of my white friends was super into rap and breakdancing and his entire friend circle was black. They called each other niggah as a greating ( but ER ending back then) Once I got into a career though I met a lot of the generation above me that were racist assholes. i’m not sure why our gen didn’t win out over the older gen.
Just human decency, when you move to a new country you adopt their cultural ettiquette and obey their laws. If you move anywhere and tgink you can just be a terrible person while waiting for citizenship, then you don’t represent the country. Its like probation at a job
Smart is a British term for looking sharply dressed, etc. Like “Oi, Lad, don’t you look smart with the new 'aircut”
You want that distinct crunch as you force the RAM in with a mallet
What exploitation angle? I was paid the same minimum wage an adult would get. And as a kid that spent tons of time outdoors with friends, exploring nature, kayaking etc, it really didn’t cut into that, as you were done your shift and still had 5-6 hours of daylight to enjoy the summer. If I wasn’t working I would have wasted that time warching rerun cartoons, you can only swim so much in the pool so much before your skin prunes. lol
I had some in the 70s, maybe different branding or parents called them by the wrong name?
