Ewan ko ba kung matatawa ako o magagalit sa comment na squatter daw tayo sa reddit and other social media. Reddit wouldn’t be successful without user submissions at sacrifices ng mga mods. Kung hindi sila affected sa API changes sana alamin din nila yung impact sa other users.

Napansin nyo ba ang users vs mods sentiments ng iba? That’s what tyrants do. They divide us and let us fight among ourselves.

Hindi na ako magugulat kung galing din sa reddit admin ang nagcocomment ng mga anti-mod sentiments. Lalo na nung nabasa ko yung history ng reddit sa wikipedia.

not only in online community, but in real life,

pinag-aaway lagi yung lower class at middle class, pero yung totoong laban ay dapat working class vs the ultra rich.

becoming a millionaire is understandable, but a billionaire?

man, that’s sad reading the comment section.

Yeah, marami din yung parang “it doesn’t affect me so I don’t care.” Sobrang short-sighted.

yeah I was expecting na majority will support and understand the protest because I assume maraming maka Leni since nung election makita mo active mga ph redditor.

I thought na most r/Ph redditors cares. in a way kung matigil ang protest sa reddit. at least yung lemmy community, yung mga nandito, maliit man sa ngayon. dito naman yung tunay na may pakialam- may pake at may alam

The funny thing is when we first announced the blackout, support was around 90% with dissenters opposing it mostly because they find a two-day protest useless, dapat daw indefinite.

Gulat na lang ako that when we opened yesterday, it’s like more than half of the sub hates the protest, hates the mods, and even hates the users that supported it.

Honestly surprised so many hated the protests. I’d say that it could be because a lot of people left reddit, but I honestly doubt that was the reason.

They will only hate it when it affects them. I noticed most post there have huge investments with their account might scared them loosing r/Philippines in turn making all those investment useless.

Investment like what? I have like 15y in reddit and didn’t even care if my account disappears today.

Some people farm karma, invest in their avatars as a way to show off legitimately. Its a feel good thing. Nothing against it, others also sell their accounts to troll farms for trolls to use for their agenda or advertising, an account that has high karma might appear attractive to those people and could have some significant value for them. Imagine if a troll farm whose whole business is to push agenda in r/Philippines and its threatened to closed down the other alternative is lemmy which at the moment does not have that wide spread impact due to low users.

Sorry for the confusion I meant it as spending money to your profile or farming karma in general for reddit.

Can’t believe I’m seeing comments like “someone else is willing to take your place” uttered so casually.

Akala kasi nila madali maging mod. Hindi nila alam yung sakripisyo nyo para mapanatili ang kaayusan sa subreddit. Don’t be discouraged on their comments, baka tauhan ni spez yung iba.

It’s not so much from a mod perspective but generally speaking. Yung dialogue kasi na yan hindi ko ine-expect from an average person. Maririnig mo yan kadalasan from those in power who are detached and sees people merely as objects.
