    Headphones are pretty much a requirement for videogames, and have been for a while.

    Anything 3d where knowing where a sound is coming from headphones are better. If they do the sound right so it hits one channel before the other right, you’ll know exactly where it’s coming from.

    But even if the game has a “midnight mode” to flatten the volume range, shits going to stupid loud on occasions. Usually with screams, gunfire, and/or explosions.

    Headphones are just better for so many reasons, are people really still playing without them? Having a headphone slot in controllers was a big deal no one really talked about at the time.

      Yes. I’m currently forced to using a headphone because my 5.1 receiver died and I’m waiting for a replacement. I absolutely hate the feeling of continuously having something on my head for extended periods of time and can’t wait until I can game without one again.

      For me better sound placement simply does not offset the discomfort that headphones or earbuds give me. So I respectfully disagree with you: headphones are not better for everybody. But of course choose whatever suits you best!
