I don’t know. Ultimately, mature fascist movements seem to only run out of steam once they cause bloodshed and destruction. I’m not going to sacrifice my life just because a substantial number of my fellow citizens decided to turn fasch. I’ve done my part in living my in a kinder fashion, I’m not obligated to sacrifice it to the meatgrinder of fascism cycles.

Yeah, but the majority of the people are democrats. And if every good Person leaves at the slightest resistance, then the fascist win without a fight. If push comes to shove, you have to make a stand. If you want to live in a Democracy, you must be ready to defend it.

I’m really not sure that works. I’ve been at protests, I’ve been teaching critical thinking for almost a decade, I’ve been supporting others in various ways. At the end of the day, large scale cultural forces need large scale cultural responses. In the case of fascism, and the consolidation of power that comes from it, the only solution I see is collapse through self contradicton. And I ain’t gonna be here to experience the increasing bloodthirst of a failing system.

The Problem is if you “let them do their thing until it collapses” that they take millions with them. I’d rather take my chances stopping them beforehand instead of waiting.

Oh, no doubt. I just don’t think it’s avoidable. We’re moving towards war and immeasurable suffering, followed by a couple of generations of peace hopefully. Guess I’ve grown a bit cynical 🤔
