That whole exchange was ridiculous. The Ukrainian Supreme Court threw out the election results based on evidence of widespread fraud observed by both domestic and international observers. Russia then attempted to assassinate the pro-Ukrainian candidate, but he survived the poisoning and won the fair election comfortably. The only coup that was attempted was Russian election interference followed by attempted assassination.
