    • Brush: Wald Nimbus Chryselephantine 29mm A1 Fan

    • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 6/8" Full Hollow Round Point

    • Lather: Elysian Soap Shop - El Dorado - Soap

    • Toner: Thayers - Lavender - Toner

    • Aftershave: Elysian Soap Shop - El Dorado - Aftershave

    • Fragrance: Elysian Soap Shop - El Dorado - Eau de Parfum

    • Talc: Yardley Gold

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

This was my first shave with El Dorado; a recent release from Elysian Soap Shop. The soap base is a very nice, modern, tallow, kaolin clay affair. It takes hydration well, has good residual slickness, and good skin feel. The El Dorado fragrance (from the website) is:

    Top: White Grapefruit, Lemon Sfumatrice
    Middle: Ginger, Vanilla Absolute, Myrrh
    Base: Sandalwood, Oakmoss, Incense

I like the scent. Scent strength is on the milder side but not annoyingly so.

    A Stirling Moosday

    • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Zenith Boar Brush 31mm × 50mm
    • Razor: Dovo Bismarck 2 (7/8″, full hollow, carbon steel)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. Mountain Man
    • Aftershave: Sir Irisch Moos
    • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Heather
    • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

My wife recently started lobbying for me to get Creed Silver Mountain Water and using the Stirling dupe today has half convinced my to pull the trigger. The Moos pairs well with it and nicely bridges the gap to Heather. A simple, yet satisfying combination.

    • Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
    • Razor: RazoRock Game Changer .84P
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (5)
    • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Diamond - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chicago Grooming Co. - Frankie & Myrna - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Harry’s - Aftershave Balm

This razor is on loan. The Game Changer, despite Italian Barber being on the DNB list, is quite popular. I got a nice close shave, but like most other razors with positive exposure, I felt it needed some attention. It didn’t feel very aggressive, per say, but I knew I was shaving. I’ll try a fresh blade in it next time.

The handle is really great. The threads feel really good. It’s a very nice razor for the price.

My Open Comb Gamechanger is one of my best razors and I generally don’t like Open Combs anymore as a head shaver… RazoRock really makes very affordable razors and brushes with solid quality. The Hawk is a weird AC blade razor, but I love it with one of their Superknurl handles. The two RR brushes I have are also among the best feeling synthetics I have, even though both were clearance sale deals. My AP Shave Co. Tuxedo Fan tops them, but not by far…

    SOTD 06.02.2024

    • Prep: CeraVe anti-blemish cleanser, warm water
    • Razor: Stando Perun
    • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
    • Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir SE 24 mm
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist
    • Post Shave: Thayer’s Cucumber facial spray; Phytorelax Headshave ASB

Tobacco Tuesday head shave, 2 passes, slick dome. This is my only other Mammoth soap and like Indigo, it gives me a superb lather. It was a bit hard to shave today since I did an intense upper body workout earlier, but still manageable somehow.

The Perun might be almost too mild for me - it’s great to have it, it’s a wonderful piece of an european wetshaving artisan. But a really mild shaver compared to the Gamechanger or Greencult IV.

I didn’t list my fragrance today as I only sprayed on a sample by Brooklyn Soap Company that was gone in like the first two hours and simply not worth it.

I’m beginning to think that near the end of my 20s, I seem to make the most improvements in my life. I lost a good amount of weight, I’m back to semi-regular workouts since this year, my retraining is going very well, I finally have some real friends again… Everything seems to be on the right path now.
