Bogles my mind why a PvE game needs an anti-cheat at all - let alone something as invasive as a rootkit.

This post reads a lot like “we were too lazy to think about how to properly implement multplayer and security so we just slapped some malware on top”. Shame, I would have liked to try this game.

What a sad state when a PvE, P2P game requires installing a rootkit. Was looking forward to this game, but now I won’t even get it on PS5, even if I was originally going to play through proton on steam.
What a pity, I was genuinely interested.
