Ive never seen all the months laid out by first letter before.
JASON
Jason got away with it until now. Now we know…now we know.
We gon’ die.
There isn’t any reason to expect near-term human extinction due to climate change.
The continuation of warming is also a human decision. One we can change.
No, it’s a corporate one. And corporations like money more than they do anything else.
All we have to do is form mobs to break into oil executives homes and beat them to death.
Two easy steps.
I get the necessity to spread a message of hope, I really do. If people start to see the cause as truly lost, the motivation to change any behavior will go down even more.
However, in these times, I find it harder and harder to keep a positive mindset about this. And I am sure I’m not the only one.
how? Like lets say we need to get on the track of reversing the course of climate change right now, within the next 10 years at most. What is the most effective thing a nobody like me can do about it?
- Talk with people about it, to help build the political will for action
- Get involved in a political campaign, with volunteer hours or money. In the US you’d find volunteer opportunities here and can give either to the Biden Victory Fund or a host of downballot races
- take a job working on any of the emissions reduction measures the IPCC recommends over the next few years
- cut your own household emissions
How do you politically influence non-western-friendly regimes/countries? That’s more than 2/3 of all the polution/emissions.
- You work to make renewable energy the cheap way to do things.
- You impose a tariff on the embedded emissions in imported goods and services.
- You appeal to the shared interest in a habitable planet
Good points, thanks
Not much that can be done there, but it’s like a wildfire. Throwing more fire at it doesn’t help any.

This seems hopeless. Most people are hard right-wing, think global warming is a hoax, and will instantly classify anyone who claims otherwise as a liar.
There are some very loud people like that, but polling shows they’re a minority.
That’s news to me. Last I heard, polling showed Trump leading Biden by a significant margin.
There are occasionally polls like that, but the popular vote is close. The way electoral votes are tallied, Biden needs to be more than +3 to win the election.
People’s opinion on individual issues and on candidates are pretty disconnected. For candidates, unfortunately, it feels like some people picking a sports team and rooting for them no matter what. There’s also the bias they get from rooting for a team that they distrust those who don’t root for the same team.
But generally most people do agree a lot more than it may seem. For example, if you ask questions about the individual policies for “Obamacare”, Republicans are in favor of almost everything… Except they originally thought it needed a public option so it’s not just handouts for corporations. Why do you think right wing media hammered on that issue for long and hard? They were trying to train their followers.
How to get beyond this blind team worship is beyond me. But I’ve noticed the same disconnect with my mom, whom repeats talking goings from the likes of Limbaugh (when he was alive), but her takes are pro-universal health care… She just frames in talking points from right wing pundits somehow. Granted, she’s a bit alienated by the Republican party because of LGB issues (T left off intentionally… She tries not to be transphobic, but she’s not great at it), so she generally won’t vote for them. If it weren’t for social wedge issues, she’d be voting for them. I think there’s some room to work with people if they already trust you personally though.

I live in Florida and expect a pretty nasty hurricane season.
The extra water from the ice sheets melting will mean more flood waters and possibly more 15-20% more dangerous hurricanes as the event expels that excess water all over the state.
Not to mention it is still speculation if the warmer weather won’t cause dead regions where weather is slower, meaning these hurricanes could be slower to dissipate too.
I was really hoping that 3rd graph wasn’t real, but it is true, the ice melt is going to be insane this year.
It is insane…and still only at the point of raising sea level a few mm per year.
