    My understanding is that the email is encrypted still so… they hand over the encrypted data which might be useless.

      The trouble with email is, the vast majority of the time, they are guaranteed to have your incoming and outgoing email in plain text for a little time. Of course, this is true for all email companies, on account of it being, you know, email.
