The total CO2 emissions of the US, even adjusted for trade, are going down since 2007-2008.
Also the only other period when the CO2 emissions of the US went down was after 1929 and 1975.

Yep, but it’s caused by shifting off of coal for electric generation, substituting gas and to a lesser extent, renewables.
We still need to adequately tackle the rest of the places fossil fuels are used
