I definitely think it will be fun but I agree that the hype isn’t quite there for me compared to the original ride (and how is Top Thrill 2 the best they could come up with after all of this time?). I’ll reserve judgment until I can ride, but I really hope the LSM launches are sufficiently forceful. While the rear spike sounds awesome, it’s lacking the big draw of gaining all of the speed in a single, powerful launch.
There are so many times we want parks to keep the nostalgia factor… And the one time we want it to distance it’s self from its former they make it wreak in a horrible horrible stench of poorly done nostalgia.
There’s really no reason TTD couldn’t live on as it was other then CF wanting to stick it to Intamin. It’s like the child that gets mad and punishes himself thinking he’s proving a point.
When it was all but confirmed to be a swing launch, I was kind of hoping they’d sneak an airtime hill in the launch track like on Pantheon. Maybe it would be a bit too much at >100 mph, but that hill on Pantheon hits HARD going backwards.
That is exactly what I was hoping and, in my mind, that was going to be it’s saving grace… And it’s not there 😞
